Still expensive going down south but I managed to get a Donington ticket between Christmas and New Year for £110. Looking forward to it. Hope it's wet.

Guessing MLR, I'll continue to pay it but Knockhill will lose some business as trackdays south become more competitive finacially.
As per another thread if KH start charging passengers at all trackdays they will find themselves on the end of another backlash similar to what followed the cones/sinbin carry on.

With Donington themselves.

Would rather have a good run round loch Rannoch than spend £100 on driving round a track with cones and sin bins for getting it sideways and dont use the blue flags when they say they will...

hi all,
have had confirmation that in 2008 Knockhill will be charging a minimum of £5.00 per passenger for events.
therefore I will ahve to charge for them at the charity events if they go ahead.

how the f*ck can they justify £5 for a pax? They all get £5 anyway from the chuffing helmet hire.
Bunch of fcucking cnuts. Its only £10-£15 more, but it happened last year too...

I doubt KH is banging out huge profits at track days. There are few business which are happy to put prices up year on year as they know that it could affect turnover.
I have been going to KH on and off for twenty years now (as a spectator) and almost without exception each time I go back they have re-invested back into the facility. They could have easily taken the money and split years ago. As an example of outlays that may not immediately spring to mind I would love to know how much it would cost to relay the track - not cheap.
I have just booked for my first non-KH track day at Donnie in March. That has cost me £180 for the event, £30 to join LoT, it will cost me £60 for fuel there an back and £60 for 2 nights accommodation. That is a total of £330 and doesn't take into consideration fuel for the event itself not to mention a day off work.
£100 for KH (for me) still seems pretty good value and is only down the road.
I would love to do more TD's other than KH, but if it means 4-5 days at KH or 1-2 days elsewhere, at the moment I think I will still head back to KH albeit these could well be 2 hour track nights (tight git faction

)

I see your point stewart but passengers become participants. £5 for a lid and now an extra £5 to go out on track along with the increase in track fee. Along with the fact that the standards of driving at Hot Marques is best described as woeful! - the straight line brigade not moving over etc etc.
Yes the likes of cadwell are a bit of a trek but they are far superior circuits imho and in the spring/autumn you get all day for £80. Plus the fact that they are run very smoothly and the punters generally know how to behave on track. The fact that John runs a tight ship on SIDC days is worth the cash but for everything else in my opinion it just isnt worth it. For me the 2 hour sessions just wont be worth the trip from the west coast so i may aswell go the whole hog and get on a better curcuit down south. (if/when i get another car)
