Ring is a priority for me this year as i've been promising myself that i'll go since i got the car! Spa would be top too...
Would prefer it there was a vague chance of sunshine as eau rouge in the wet might scare me

Would love to do this...
Dates, costs and permissions dependant!
Also not convinced in the reliability of my wee plastic car in a journey that long.
Ali or Robin would need to follow in a support vehicle going on the past few jaunts!

A combined Ring&Spa trip is great, but probably won't actually come in much cheaper than FF7 - 700 quid is a bargain for crossings, track day costs and hotel rooms.
Cheers,
Robin

The FF does sound good value at £700 but I rackon you'll be nearer £2k, if not over it......
I'm prob not gonna do both circuits......
Unless I come across some spare cash and time off it'll prob be the ring OR spa......

My young bro went over to the 'ring in November with his bird. I will ask him for a full cost breakdown (although November was cheaper as he managed to bag laps off ebay for good rates)- he was talking about getting a couple of folks toegether for a 4day jaunt in Summer and already a couple of our mates are keen. Could be good for a team outing?

I really want to do spa but it all depends on what I'm doing with the car this year.

LOT might have 2 days at Spa coming up end of May ( I might be going) but your £300+ just for the track time. If its dry a tank of fuel will only last 1 hour (well it did for Ali)

+ hotels + crossing + tyres + pads. soon adds up. Then again I only do KH twice a year. Save your pennies.

I did the Ring/Spa combo twice last year
By the time you're going that far it seems such a waste not to do both if the dates work out. Having said that, I was last at the Ring in Oct and the weather was glorious - but it was sooo busy I reckon I might not bother with the public days (unless midweek out of season) this year. RMA days are the other option. They're about £700 for 2 days IIRC, which is plenty - especially as they're in March & Nov so there's no guarantee the circuit will be open.
I've therefore no idea whether to go this year. I could probably be easlity persuaded though...

Likewise waiting for LoT Spa/Zandvoort days end of May.
Spa is fairly taxing on the car as you're full throttle for so much of the lap and high speeds to really work the brakes. Most of our last trip was in the wet but as Scotty says when it dries up you can use a tank of fuel in less than an hour.
McApe and I both went out straight after lunch with full tanks and both back in 45 mins later for fuel (and without seeing each other on track!). IIRC I was 48mins between petrol receipts and needed over 40L...
I'm also going to do the 'ring this year tagged onto the end of FF.
Then again I only get to drive a couple of times a year so gotta make the most of it...
I was also hoping to do this when in Cape Town in a few weeks but can't get dates now.

Will have to make do with a hired Cobra over Chapmans Peak.
£70/day seams pretty reasonable - probably the same again in fuel though...

Does BigD make it round a lap without refill?
Very Good.
Fuel is without doubt the most expensive bit about a ring trip. We did a couple last year and I intend on doing at leats the same this year. Will probably do FF7 and as Ali tag the ring on at the end. (It's on the way home anyway)
Rough costings for a Ring weekend:
Ferry - £300 (necastle or Rosyth) you can go the cheap way but that works out about the same when you factor in the fuel.
Digs for say 3 nights around £100. On top of that you have food and drink.
Fuel getting there and back £250 and same again for 15 laps of the Ring so £500. (I use a quarter of a tank per lap)
Ring tickets £163 for 15 lap ticket (2008 Prices gone up again

). Obviously if you do more laps then it costs more for the ticket and the fuel.
So I get that at roughly £1,063 for a long weekend with 15 laps (not alot). Still food and drink to add on.
