Last years prices, which should be finalised for 2008 this Thursday at the club AGM, were £350 for the day's hire, plus £175 to cover the cost of the track's insurance. As numbers would be limited to 30, and I'd be expecting at least 20 cars, the cost of the track hire for the full day would be between £17.50 and £26.25 per person plus a one off fee of £20 to join East Ayrshire Car Club.
This £20 fee means you can take part in the ten or so track days/evenings the club will be holding through 2008 as well as any other competitive event held by EACC such as grass tracking.
As Kames is a sprint track, only one car at a time is allowed on track. Three laps at a time is the usual way things are run, after which you are free to join the que to get back on track again. Kames can now be run in both clockwise and anti-clockwise directions to make things a bit more interesting. EACC will provide marshalling equipment and two registered first aiders in addition to at least one club director being on hand.
My plan would be to do it on a Saturday, starting at around 10 am running in one direction. Break for lunch, which would probably be a BBQ in the best SE Dukes Pass stylee tradition (there are not a lot of facitities at Kames or in the village). After lunch the track could be set up to run in the opposite direction until about half 4. Afterwards, head down to the more civilised parts of the Ayrshire badlands for a bit to eat and a bit of Killie pinting (Just for you Jon
