Nurburgring/spa trip - october

Post by mckeann » Wed Jun 11, 2008 4:23 pm

Hi folks, time to start thinking of this. I know a few of you are interested.

The nordschliefe is open on 12th and 13th. LoT and autotrack have days at Spa on the 13th and 14th of October.

My plan, if i decide to go, would be out on the friday night from newcastle, get to ring on early evening on sat, taking in some nice roads on the way. All day sunday at the ring, quite drunk on sunday night with a long lie on monday morning, then 6 hours in the afternoon at the ring. Then head to Spa, via lovely roads, and do tuesday at Spa. Then home on the newcastle ferry on the wednesday evening, get home at midday on thursday. Alternatively, you could drive home after trackday, get home at some point on wednesday.

Its just an idea, i am not 100% myself, but its something to think about

Scotty did a great cost up of everything involved. At least half the costs are petrol and beer. :lol:

ok, very quicly and roughly, as i meant to be working :lol: :

Ferry = 300
spa trackday = 200
Ring lap tickets = 200
Hotels for 4 night = 200
2 rear tyres = 300
set of front pagids = 100
Petrol for 600 miles on track at 15mpg, 1.20 a litre= 220 quid
petrol for 600 miles on road at 30mpg, 1.20 a litre = 110 quid
food and drink for 6 nights = 400

total = 1990.

so call it 2K. But really, call it 3K. as thats assuming you dont need front tyres or rear pads, and that you dont break anything.

What a great trip.

Would have to sell the Elise to fund it though ;-)

Hoping to do a budget trip to the Ring next year though...reckon my last one cost a few hundred pounds at most.

Mmmm. Sounds like a plan, but the Ring will be rubbish 'cos it'll be mega busy - but I haven't been in years - I'm beginning to forget which way round it goes!

Cheers,
Robin
