Great night out - and a massive thanks to Carlo, of Top Gear Cars for the invite- what an epic way to spend the evening of my birthday!
Everyone there was really nice actually, and enjoyed chasing down the new GT3 RS and a Challenge Stradale especially, and as the other chaps will vouch, they were being used properly
I took a fair bit of video last night for a change, as the track was quite enough for me to duck-tape Mass's datalogger and go for it. 2 issues - tyres that were shot, and I mean totally destroyed shot (but it remained dry

) and rear brake pads which after the first 2 outings we could no longer see pad on
Anyway, haven't seen the download yet, but the datalogger clocked a 57.1, and unofficial pit wall timing from my Dad who was making a rare appearance clocked us at 56 dead, on a flier i had trying to show Uncle Ron what it would do.
Anyway, hopefully the video will confirm these also.
Funniest part of the night was saved to the end. They'd announced before the event that for the first time at a KH trackevening they would have a driver of the night, which would be voted for by the marshalls, and was most likely to be the person who had kept it on the black stuff, and not caused them any issues.
We sat in Kinairds waiting for Ian(??) to present it.
He started of by saying it was a unanimous decision, and was going to the most sensibly driven car of the night. Needless to say, Kenny (360 at the chicane), Jamie (i can cause more smoke under braking than the Atom), and myself, started to laugh as he said this thinking we were all clearly out of the running........the winner...... the Black Atom!!!
Just about fell over, and then had the embarrasing walk to collect my trophy.......another TSE prize collected
i think the videos should show in my attempts to break 56 seconds, i was very much pushing my luck, sliding of line, and not driving to the best of my ability, mainly not smoothly enough (and worrying about the brakes imminent potential failure). Sorted it towards the end though!
Had another quality moment when one of the drivers sons came up to me after his pax to tell me that despite all the pax's in the Porsches, Fezza's etc, the Atom was the best car he'd ever been in - just reminded me what it was like to be a car daft kid at that stage - and 33 years later on its good to see nothing has changed!
