Ye Olde Knockhill Tracknight

Post by H8OAG » Fri Sep 05, 2008 8:12 am

Russell Paterson invited me along to KH last night for the Monklands Sporting Car Club tracknight. He assured me it would be a bit different to the usual turnout.....and it didn't disappoint.

The event was fully subscribed with an eclectic mix of machinery

Historic Racers and Rally Cars

Mint Renault Gordini
Mint Escort Mk 1 RS1600
MGB'S
Early TVR
Blower Bentley (It never made the track)

Hill Climb Cars
(Every version of Cateringfield Hiyabusamegablades with Sylvas and Fury for good measure)

Road Cars
6 Russell Paterson Morgans (all variants)
4 Ferraris.......including the most enthusiastically driven red 360 I have seen
3 Mazda RX8 .....value for money trackcars
4 UR Quattros
Early Porsches 911SC's
1 Elise (Me)

Race Cars
Home Made efforts to the usual Minis

Weather Sunny (Got soaked driving to and from Crieff!!)

Track Dry

Good Standard of driving with everyone watching their mirrors......and for fluid leaks from some of the old timers (cars and drivers :D )

One Red Flag.... (360 reversing up the straight backwards from the hairpin in mid spin)

Another 90 track miles on Santas little helper with no brake fade..... and still no visible wear on the Pirellis(They are the future!!)

:cheers

That was the last one of the year I'm afraid folks - I was supposed to be going up, hanging around, begging for pax laps/shots of cars but blasted work got in the road

I had tried to convince myself that I wouldn't be missing much - Thanks for dispelling that myth Mr Boag! :D

Hillclimb Heaven........a lot of people standing in the pitlane with imaginary steering wheels in their hands :D

There was one white car there of unknown origin that was soooo loooow..... made the Elise look like a double decker. (Quite disconcerting when the drivers helmet disappeared from view when you were reeling it in)
