Knockhill noise limits

Post by Digital » Wed Oct 01, 2008 1:15 pm

I always thought Knockhill was able to get away with no noise limits for trackdays, but according to their website they have a 105dB limit - first time I've heard of this and certainly never seen this enforced. I can think of a few cars I've seen on track this year that would struggle to pass that...

Anyone know if they are having to follow the general trend with trackdays down south to restrict the noise?

They would not bother if you turned up with a Concorde engine in an Elise.

Doubt if they possess a decibel meter.

The website has said that for years, never been enforced.

Ah, just wondered if it was something new they had brought in without telling anyone. Having been at Bedford last year, they are anal about noise testing, half of the Knockhill regulars wouldn't even be allowed on the premises...

No worries :thumbsup

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

I was thinking more in terms of the Ultimas, at the supercar session earlier in the year they were almost painfully loud

D Type looks 8)

Looked like he was drifting round the hairpin almost every lap, looked like lots of power + skinny tyres + wet track = tricky ;) :D

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak

Don't think that's a D Type, unless it's a unique body. Still looks Costin-y though, so might be a Lister of some description?

Definitely not a D-type,looks more like a C-type, but i'm pretty sure it's not - very rarely you see any of them get thrashed anyway (apart from at Goodwood revival meeting) - last D-type sold was for about £2.5 milion IIRC.

Suspect it's a replica or a Lister as per previous post.
