Crail Raceway on either 8th or 22nd November

Post by smitstui » Thu Oct 23, 2008 12:05 pm

I have been speaking to Willie at Crail about organising a Track day for me and some work Colleagues. The Dates would be the 8th or 22nd November.

I am guessing cost would be about £60 / 70 a head (depending on how many people) for 4 hours.
Would anyone be interested in going and if so which date the 8th or 22nd Novemeber.

I never done Crail before - so if anyone has any comment or suggestions feel free.

Cheers,

Stuart.

Never tried Crail so put me on the list please.

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Jings, a Crail day that's not a Drag race/Fast & Furious collection! That's been what's made the money for Willie in recent years, after the local authority put a limit on the numbers of days he can run.

Glad to hear it - I always had a soft spot for Crail. Hopefully the runways are in good nick (went through a phase of being pretty shabby with loose stones, but I heard they had been sweeped/cleaned up)

Won't be able to make it over for this one, however.

Either would be good for me - any of the ABZ guys up for it?

I did crail just over a year ago and for a airfield day it is alright, the surface was a bit rough off line. I went with the Evo club and there was a pretty good mix of cars and all were well behaved, there was even a meastro turbo there which was rather ammusing.

Last time it was £35 for all day which was good value I thought.

Its £875 all in. Willie based the £35 on 25 people but I dont think we will get that many. I think it current stands at 8 people interested.
If we get more then the price will get cheaper but I thought I would cap it at 20.

How busy was it last time?

I did Crail a few years ago, on a Walshy affiliated day. Good fun, surface acceptable.

I'm on a sleep day on the 8th unless I can swing something, if I can, I'm in. I'm working until 1400 on the 22nd which is rubbish.

I'll let you know tomorrow about the 8th.

Done a track day there last year with TrackScotland in my black S3, was good fun but pretty rough on the tyres....just ripped them to bits due to the surface :)

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).

that was the one I was at, forgot it was trackscotland - I was in the red elise. Good vid, I told you there was a meastro there (first couple of corners) was a good day

Hey Will, I remember speaking to you at that event last year, was a bit disappointed to see you were the only Elise driver there (I was up with my friend in my black VX).

I could possibly be interested in this, always nice to try a new track :)

Hi Will, I was also there athat day and was chatting to you for a bit.

Shoomer, any track day can cause stone chips, if someone has gone off in the gravel and drags it onto the track for example. As long as you don't drive right up close to people then it's not too bad. That said I did crack my windscreen there but again I have cracked it at other tracks and on road too.

I enjoyed it was a good track. :thumbsup

Here's my vid of the day. http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?doc ... 2651880786

To be totally fair, when was the last time you were at Crail shooomer?

I know that remedial work has taken place on the track since the worst of it (when it was as you describe...)

I've not seen it since, so can't really comment with any authority...

Willie did say to me that it would be swept the during the week before the 8th Nov. So I am guessing this will improve matters considerably.
