post by Dale (RSR) who has the contacts and got it organised.
note that it is about a week before FF :(

Hi guys, after much to-ing and fro-ing by Rob and myself, we've succeeded. I have a program and a price.

Thursday 30th
After 12.00pm: check-in at new hotel, Nürburgring Resort. No photos as it's still being built! But this is top of the line, it's apparently above and beyond the Dorint
5.15pm: Touristfahrt begins (REALLY not recommended to drive this, as you’d kick yourself if you crashed or somebody crashed into you, the night before you’ve got the Trackday! But we can organise taxi laps for those eager to join the fray)
7.15pm: Bespoke trackwalk for the entire group, normally this on-track walky-talky lesson uses mini-busses from point-to-point. However, for you guys we’ve managed to organise permission for your cars to come on track with us. This could be a record for the most Lotuseseses on track at once, and will certainly make a good photo!
9pm: Group dinner at new Nürburgring restaurant. Nice Steak-based menu with the usual starters and options...

Friday 31st
7.00am: Sign-on at Nordschleife entrance.
7.30am: Briefing
8.00am: Convoy sighting laps with RSR instructors leading small groups.
9.00am: free lapping begins
12.45pm: last lap
1.00pm -5.00pm: OPTIONAL (+€495) open pitlane on Nordschleife. For intermediates and above, minimum! Sharing with real race cars! Will be great for specatating and we will be offering taxi laps in our GT3 Cup car during this session.
5.15pm-7.30pm: Touristfahrt, just in case you have any tyres, fuel or energy left! Again, taxi laps available.

Price of €499 includes:
Trackwalk (Thursday 30th)
Evening meal for one (Thursday 30th)
1 night accommodation (Thursday 30th) based on sharing with 1 other driver
Exclusive Lotus Trackday entry, including 1hr of group training (8am-9am)

Extra options

+€99 for single room supplement
+€149 for guest meal and sharing your room

+€99 for extra nights accommodation (based on sharing with another driver)
+€199 for extra nights accommodation (double room)

+€125per hour Private instructor from us
+€495 for 1300-1700 trackday entry
+€695 for 1300-1700 trackday entry and DMSB National A license exam

+€125 for Clio 197 Cup taxi lap
+€145 for Megane R26.R taxi lap
+€175 for GT3 Cup taxi lap

How does it sound? We will be taking bookings very shortly...

Bob,

Unless I'm reading that wrong it looks like 1000 euros for the one day on track?

Seems a bit steep. Was hoping it was going to be nearer 500. And nearer FF8!

Take care,

Frank

Bob, That is a great result, and what an opportunity to be on a lotus only day at the ring!!

I have told Rob that I am up for it, as I have said that I will only do the ring again on a private track day.

It may be expensive, but what a track day! :thumbsup

I doubt if I would stretch to the extra 495 euros for the afternoon tho!

It does look pretty expensive, but a great opportunity to drive the ring without dicing in tourists. Would have been a much better draw if the full day had been that price, but there are lots of extras in there, so a good deal. I'd probably have to try and do the afternoon as well to justify it. Time to get saving...

It would be good to be able to choose wether to do the afternoon bit on the day. Shame to pay 1000 euros months in advance, and have the car blow up at 11am!

Are normal private Ring days not a lot cheaper??

No. Not unless it's November and snowing...

Plus add the accom, etc. Looks like a decent deal - I'm going if I can sort out the pennies.

you don't have to thank me, I am just the messenger,
copy/posting on here so that you won't miss it :)

the point is that the Ring will only give a date if you stay in their new ( not yet finished) hotel :(
that is why this is a total deal including hotel and dinner. (and yes, the other local hotels/guesthouses in the area are p*ssed off ! )
track walk also included, which is fune and amazing how steep the Ring is at places when you walk it :)

yes, pity it is not closer to FF

Dates are not great for me.

Think I will give this a miss :( and hope for some quiet evening sessions in June.

I took my name off this list when the details were advised by Bob.

Being nosy, I checked this out on Seloc today to see how many were still going..looks like about 20 so far comfirmed.

But there are quite a few from on here who are still on the list as unconfirmed. As Dale (Lomas, ex PB I think) is going to need a lot more that that to make it fly it would be a good idea to update your status so that they know where they are.

Take care,

Frank

Paul, are you definitly doing the ring trackday??

I'm considering it, but still weighing up my options. I see they have thrown in a track evening on the GP circuit the night before as part of the price.

Doing the sums, i reckon this is virtually the same price as doing a normal day at the ring.

Its 500 euros for a 2 hour track evening at an F1 track, plus 5 hours on the nurburgring, plus accomodation and meal.

You would pay approx 150 Euro's to do a track evening at somewhere like silverstone GP in the summer. I reckon you could do 20 laps in 5 hours. That would cost you approx 350 Euro's in lap tickets on a public day. 50 Euro's for a night in a decent B and B, plus 50 Euro's for a meal and drinks. Thats you at 500 Euros already, but this day will have about 50 lotus elises, as opposed to 500 absolute numpties.

If i can sort out the time off, and logistics (and a decent car that warrants doing the ring in) then i'm in.

Anybody else???

I'm quite keen to do this but need to sort the logistics as I have to work the week between the Ring & FF8
Just need to decide where best to leave the car, I don't fancy taking my chances with a long stay airport car park in Paris

Wed 29 Jun - Travel/Crossing/Tunnel
Thu 30 Jun - Travel to Ring
Fri 31 Jun - Ring day
Sat 1 Aug - Recover
Sun 2 Aug - Drive to airport & fly home
Sun 8 Aug - Fly out & drive to Le Mans
Mon 9 Aug - FF8
Sun 16 Aug - Tunnel back to UK

We've found that Koln (Cologne) airport is very convenient for the ring and German Wings fly from there to Edinburgh - whether or not it will fit in with your dates I don't know - only one flight a day and perhaps not every day either.

The car would be 99% fine in the Paris long stay car parks, BTW.

Or leave the car at Schipol airport and fly one way. On the way home you can fly Schipol to wherever with EasyJet. Then on the way back hitch a ride with someone doing the Newcastle-Ijmuiden ferry and get them to drop you off at Schipol to collect your car.

Simples!

Cheers,
Robin

I have decided not to do this trip, dates aren't good for me, and looks like I will be moving house just before, so unfortunately priorities in other places!!

Also the fact that it didn't look as if there was strong SE contingent going was the final influencer!!

Would have been fun though....................
