Scottish Elises

Happened to be speaking to my Alfa man today, he mentioned there's one of their splendid track evenings this Fri at KH.

Details are 6-8pm, £60, due to the short notice, just turn up and pay/sign on.

Always a good time to be had at these, plus there's always some droolworthy kit there too

So far, Kayfur/Kevin, Digital/Jamie and I are booked in for this.

I've just spoken to Steve to book onto this too. Reason for time difference is because they want everyone there at 5pm in plenty of time to book in, get briefing etc but is usual 2 hr actual track time of 6 - 8pm. Looking forward to it.

Provided I can still pay on the day I'll probably be on track as well.

Car was going brilliantly, starting to get to grips with the new brakes and also found far better lines through the chicane and Clarks, able to carry far more speed through the corners, having to shift to 4th on the short straight after the chicance and on cam through clarks. Very confident in the car, most confident I have ever been with it I think. The wise words of a ginger ape are beginning to sink in, slowing down to go faster, thinking more about what I am doing and relaxing with the steering wheel. Didn't get overtaken all night

Some quite slow cars on track but etiquette was generally very good, at times the slow cars meant that it was difficult to get anything close to a clean lap and some interesting braking moments when slightly miss judging just how slow the car is in front is.

One big moment on the night and again from a car in front of me at Duffus. As I turned in the Alfa (155 maybe) suddenly slowed then went bang spectacularly, wish I had a camera! A second later I cant see 5 feet in front of me and I know BrianJ is right behind me almost certainly lost in the fog as well. Pick the right hand side of the track and thankfully we clear the cloud from the expired Alfa.

Nearly ran out of petrol at the end, many thanks Kevin for offer of breakdown assistance

Great night . 6 SE-ers on track. Only 31 cars booked in and all were rather slow - I was only passed by the SE Exige contingent, Kayfur in his Caterham and a Radical all night. Only one red flag when an Alfa's engine let go down Duffus and then one yellow when a WRX spun just before the chicane.
Cheers to Kenny for the jump-start at the petrol station I also had Kevin on stand by as car was flashing 'refill' when the session finished.

It wasn't a year ago! 9 months, tops.

It was the same with Walshy, it made sense at the time but it took time to finally click into place, it's easy to run through the motions but to get it instinctively right and still be able to slide the car around with confidence takes me a bit of time. I really enjoyed tonight.

Glad you made it back OK

Great tracknight tonight, really enjoyed it, but took a while to get back into the swing of it (last trackday was August last year I think). As mentioned there was quite a big difference in speed between some of the cars present, seemed to spend more time than usual passing others, but everyone seemed courteous enough.

As Kenny mentions above, I also found I was quicker when I tried to slow it down a bit and not overdrive. Definitely time to take some more instruction I think...
