AMP3 Trackday 2009 - a poll
Posted: Thu Apr 30, 2009 4:22 pm
Folks, A poll for you. After reading the post below (I know it's long, but read it please) indicate if you would be able and willing to attend any of the above dates. If you can do more than one, please select the earliest one you could attend.
We're looking at another AMP3 Trackday - it'll be more of a challenge to get money this year and TBH I'd actually discussed leaving it for a year with Andy, due to the economic situation, etc.
However, he makes a good point - we're very lucky people to be able to do this, have some great fun and be helping a charity all at the same time - it's not about breaking our own records, it's about helping people.
Andy has just found out that his Aunt has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease - a truly horrible condition. There is still little in the way of progress on a cure, so more research is desperately needed. With this in mind, our chosen charity this year is Motor Neurone Disease Scotland - please check out their website as linked for more info. http://www.mndscotland.org.uk
One issue with previous events has been an amount of crowding on track - while we are kinda fighting two opposing goals here, we will absolutely limit the max cars to 50 this year - no last minute additions, if you're not on, you're not on. This means less crowding, but also means we are going to raise the entry donation to £70. As before it'll be a 3pm - 5pm track slot on a Friday, but we'd really look for people to be at least an hour early for promotional photos and the like.
As before, 100% of this fee goes to the charity. We pay the track costs through sponsorship from our suppliers. Also this year, if you have any corporate sponsorship you wish to offer, we can include you as a title sponsor - please contact me via PM to discuss. We are considering a product launch at the event to further promote it in the press as well.
We are also very much into getting the attendees to raise money themselves - there were some great efforts last year, including pax laps organised by Mass in his F360, which had him going like a Le Mans driver throughout the session - nearly killed the poor car! In that vein - Andy's gonna open the show with donations for pax laps in his F430. Details for that will follow later on.
There will also be an evening event - The Andy G House Party (in Edinburgh, if you weren't about last year) once more with the Andy & Shug show presenting the prize draw - I may even buy a more ridiculous shirt for this one. A frankly insane amount of money was raised in this part of the event last year and I'll be doorstopping people once more to look for prizes - that will come a little later though. There will be an amount of free beer in the barrel of doom, but as always, if you prefer a specific tipple, please bring it along as we physically can't fit enough beer in Andy's store to quench the thirsts of the SE massive! If you want to come to the party, but haven't attended the day, there will be a minimum £10 donation to the cause.
If you're new and not aware of the event - take a read through the thread from last year to get a feel - thread, it's a really brilliant craic and probably the most fun way I know of raising money - we put over £10,000 towards Marie Curie Cancer Care last year!
One last thing - this isn't a thread for attendees, it's to get a feel for the demand. Just cos you're first to respond to this thread, you're not guaranteed a place. When we've got the date decided and it all booked, I'll open a donation page and it'll be first paid, first served on there. Ta.
