Crail TD tomorrow (24th June)

Post by Shug » Fri Jun 23, 2006 3:10 pm

Willie from Crail just posted this on SE1
We have a track day on tomorrow from 9.30 till 2.30 open lane sweeping track at the moment and patched for Porsche/Mercedes earlier this year.£35.00 per driver which also gets you free entry to the drag till dark event which starts at 4PM and a £5.00 discount on the 1/4 mile strip drift/sprint track is open as well and is floodlit if it gets dark.
Regards
Willie Robertson
Any questions, email willie at m3@_REMOVE_sol.co.uk (remove the bit that says so, obviously)

Before you ask, Crail is an old airfield - it's not been resurfaced in years, but it can be fun if you don't follow other cars too closely.

Yes(ish) Did a fun day when Walshy was up a couple of years ago. Track is rough as a badger's arse and I have no idea who would be on track with you. If it's anything like Crail's usual clientele, it'll be of the Barry persuasion.....

Tarmac will rip the tyres up in a day's running (WW2 spec runway)

Having said that - it's a cheap way of doing some quick laps. The layout I drove was pretty wide open (and they limited numbers severely so you didn't get traffic) and even my standard engined S1 at the time topped 115. Good 3rd gear sweepers, too.

I'd be considering it if the car was tip top and I didn't have a prior.

Its too far to drive that bag of sh*t. Happy to 1/4 mile it if it was with 3 miles...after that the drive gets tedious!

The track is nothing like as rough as everyone makes out but I probably wouldn't do it on 48s. Lee organised a day there about a year and a half ago and it was excellent, especially the £30 price.

It's a good, fun track and I'd never knock it. It's got some good fast corners that you don't get at Knockhill.

There's plenty of grip out there given the abrasive nature of the concrete surface.

If I had any tread on the other wheels I would be up there.
