Hi Se’ers
You should have this date in your diary already but here it is now confirmed!
AMP3 Charity Trackday 2010
August 6th 2010, once again sees the return of the annual AMP3 Charity Trackday, BBQ and Auction.
Last year, thanks to very kind support from our suppliers, other companies, and participants involved, we managed to raise £25000 for Motor Neurone Disease. To put this in to perspective this is equivalent to an entire years worth of care in Edinburgh!
This year we are looking to you for help to make the event even more successful than 2009!
In addition to participating on track you can get involved in many ways – from Sponsoring a logo on our Race Car (which will be used for the Sun Photoshoot), to donating prizes for the raffle/and or auction, to promoting your products or technology at the event – the options are endless – we want to work with you to make this event more successful than the year before!
In fond memory of 2 friends that have passed during the year, Cancer Research is the nominated charity.
In memory of one of our friends, Brian the Gentleman Racer, we will be having a “Gentleman Racer” theme this year. We will be looking to all drivers, some 50+, to dress in Gentlemanly attire, with Brians Trophy up for grabs to the winner.
The day is essentially done in 2 parts;
1. The trackday
Held at Knockhill Race Circuit in Fife, Advanced MP3 Players hosts the trackday, which runs between 3-5pm. All participants donate their track-fees to Cancer Research.
During the trackday there are passengers laps available for donations to Cancer Research in various Supercars.
Also during the trackday passenger laps are available in the AMP3 Lotus Elise Race Car, and the Procureall Lotus 2-11 Race Car, with our own tame racing drivers, again to raise more funds.
So far Redbull are also confirmed for the event with their Wing Girls, Minis, and just in case it was needed, Redbull samples!
2. The BBQ and Auction
This year the post-trackday fun will be taking place at Boroughmuir Rugby Club, just off Collington Road in Edinburgh, thanks to Ed for arranging their 400 person function suite and terrace for us.
The BBQ, which is sponsored annually by Martin Bairds Butcher in Melrose supplies the food, and we sell tickets to the event which is fantastically well supported, with over 120 people attending last year.
During the BBQ raffle tickets are on sale for the MASSIVE raffle which is normally very generously donated to. Post Raffle its time to move on to the auction, where we hope to raise even more funds. Moet have kindly donated 3 magnums to the cause, for auction (personally engraved).
Got something you want to donate to the Raffle/Auction – email Shug (Shug@amp3.co.uk)
The party will then continue in to the night, where we will hopefully raise more funds, while having fun, for those not as fortunate as ourselves.
We do have the option of free admission in to Opal Lounge in George Street as long as those party animals are in by 1am.
As you may realise this has been written to try and get more companies involved this year. Within minutes you’ll be pleased to hear, Shure confirmed. They will have some of their new 535’s up for grabs! (£469msrp!)
Anyway, at this point I wanted to see what peoples thoughts were to getting each participant to collect personal sponsors, as you might in a fun run etc, for doing laps of Knockhill while in Gentlemanly attire.
If each participant doing this managed to raise £20 from friends and family, this would equate to another £1k for Cancer Research. Up for it Se’ers?
Also, I should point out that we are more than happy for other companies to be involved in the event, so if you know of anyone etc, please let them know to get in touch. (andyg@amp3.co.uk)
We’re very much looking forward to making this yet another year Trackday to remember and Cancer Research are very excited about getting involved.
