Karting Report (NLC)

Post by Stu160 » Sun Jul 02, 2006 10:14 pm

Hi All

Sorry for being quiet of late,my laptop charger failed, and I am very busy at work,so have not had time to keep up to date will recent events,so a very brief report .

Banff last month was Ok,got a 4th place in the final, just was not quite on the pace, although I was closer than I have been.

I done Crail with the Rotax engine ,Thought it would be the usual 10 or so regulars, but no......Super Series round with 25 entries, and the whippets from Larkhall etc.
I was 1.5 secs off the pace on Sat.but was on old tyres,so not to worried.Sunday, new tyres and a new fastest lap for me ,a 38.2 in the first heat, and 8th out of 20,just .6 secs of the pace, well chuffed. It all went pear shaped after that though, the rain came on ,had to buy new wets as well, and I have not used that engine in wet before, very hard,as it has a power valve making it trickey. In the final, all but one went out on slicks ,and it rained,se hw lapped up to 7th place. Expensive weekend.....£250 on tyres :-(

Larkhall today,3rd and a 4th in the heats,in the wet,and one dnf as the throttle linkage fell off!

Started 7th in the final, and finished 6th,after being 3rd and making a LARGE mistake, turned in a bit early on the fastest corner,as I got a bit understeer on the previous laps as it was still a bit wet,and its gripped ,inside front went over the apex by about a foot, bounced me over the track,on the grass, and I then span ,after managing to go about 200 yards on the wet grass, and missing the tyres,it could have been worse.A good day though, really enjoyed myself, and no damage to the kart for a change, never even marked my new body work ;-)

Crail in 2 weeks time,2nd last round of the Blue challenge, the up to Golspie the week after.
