Scottish Kart Championships Report (NLC)

Post by Stu160 » Sun Aug 13, 2006 11:58 pm

Hi All

Just a short write up about this weekends Karting.

I was out in the rotax ,25 entries,so it was a busy track, the lap record was beaten in timed qually, and all the karts were covered by just 1.25 seconds.
I had a great weekends racing ,and finished 17th in the final, not bad ,as I had a missfire in every lap,the tyre pressures were to hard, and I had too much grip.

Steven was great, there were 9 enties in Honda Cadet,5 being the top drivers in Scotland,so the goal was to finish 6th.He done his best all weekend, fastest he had driven, and very tidy.

In the final ,we had a team talk, and gave him a few ideas, and it seemed to work,he took 5th place on about the 6th lap,and the 2 of them run the rest of the 20 lap final nose to tail, swapping places every other lap, with 5 to go Steven was in front ,and managed to pull away a wee bit and got the place, setting his fastest lap as well, only 3 tenths of the winning pace,I was so proud,he still has 3 years to go in that class as well.

So ,he now also has the Kart which won the championship,we will see if that gives him any more speed.

Golspie in 2 weeks time.......He is going for a win ;-)

My dad took me karting, but not at such an early age!! wish I'd stuck in.
He is still Karting at nearly 60. and is now not sure if he is gonna give up now.

My nephew is 2. I am already planning his first season in cadets 8)

Stu, he had a really good meeting, but someone took him off, No.42 I think and it ripped out a valve on his wheel causing puncture.

He was not amused, as it wasnt a racing incident,I think the boy drove into him while he was alongside on the straight.

I missed it all as I was offshore at the weekend.
