Oulton Park - 18th Nov - LoT

Post by Fluoxetine » Sun Aug 14, 2011 3:04 pm

Okay - Now I've broke my duck in the hairdresser wagon, I fancy doing another trackday before the year's out.

Reading LoT's FAQ's, it seems they might let my MX5 book on, by virtue of the fact it's a two seater / RWD. (Would need to check, though).

Haven't driven OP for 5 years, but it's still my fav U.K. track - Anyone else thinking of doing it?

Always keen to do an OP day, though there are some Cadwell and Spa things being talked about elsewhere on SE - might be worth pulling together all the options.

Cheers,
Robin

BAT are doing an all day Croft and KH on the 29th and 30th August.

Croft is sold out but I doubt that KH will be.

Will look into it - :thumbsup

Was going to treat myself for my b'day (any excuse  ) by hiring one of Hertz's Heathrow Evora's for the day - But the price went from £149 up to £240, and I'd much rather do a TD in my MX5 for that, than mooch around some back roads in an Evora.

OP stood out for me, as it's my last weekend off shift, so I'd just head north with everyone afterwards - It would also be 5 years almost to the day since I last did a TD there...

(Cleared out some old e-mails, and found the final instructions for the day from Golding, dated Nov '06 - Think I had the S1 shed, you had Egor, Malcolm had an S2 Exige, Mr Boag had an S1 Exige, Paul had his 340R and Kelvin was there in his car too? Golding / Ape etc were in New Zealand thrashing hire cars!)

I get back on dry land on the 30th, otherwise might have considered KH - Although need to fit my new dampers & poly bushes / get the geo done / bodge my exhaust back together first... :P

If there's Boag, Beer and Banter then I'm in, subject to the usual hassles. Mines a babysham and cranberry juice, Myfanwy. Let me know when you're booking it and I'll get it sorted.

Cheers,

I am in for this.

We'd best not stay in the same hotel as last time, my liver is struggling these days................

Excellent. :)

Right - A quick looksee on the PremierInn website throws up the Northwich (Sandiway) unit, with twin room availability at £29 per / night.

(5 miles from OP)

Is this where people stay these days? (I remember staying at a floating hotel many moons ago, with 'eau de damp in the air... :P )

Any local opportunities for curry / drinks, as per standard SE procedure?

I might just go and book today (will e-mail first to confirm they're okay with the hairdresser wagon) - Gives me something to aim for, with regard to fitting my new suspension.

My LoT membership expired in 2007 - I'm assuming any of the 'special' membership deals Mr Golding offered SE have long gone...?

Once booked, I'll confirm on here - But provisionally:

1) Me
2) Herr Iddon
3) Mr Boag
4) Malcolm

Any more? :cheers

(Yes; I realise FF is about to kick off, but it would still be nice to have something to look forward to in a couple months! )

There was an OP day I'd been thinking of in Nov, actually. Not sure who was running it or if it was this date.

Can't commit yet however. Sounds like a good crew though!
