Frolic 12 (2014)

Post by Scotty C » Mon Oct 07, 2013 12:46 pm

up in the shop.

:thumbsup

to book:

http://www.lotus-on-track.com/various/ff2014/

if anyone needs further info please email paul@lotrdc.com

After various discussions during and since this years frolic we're going to organise a 2014 trip if enough people commit early enough. Circuits and hotels have to be reserved NOW and Paul has to work the LoTRDC race and LoT track day calendar around the trip as circuits are already being booked for 2014.

Initially the trip will be limited to 30 cars – depending on hotel availability and circuits this may be increased to 35 or 40.

The base price from 26/8 will rise from £850 to £950, although we withhold the right to increase at any time. Basically those that make a very early commitment get the best deal.

Provisional timetable:

UK Bank Holiday Monday 25/8 - Head to Dijon (there may be a separate LoT track day in the Paris area the weekend before, not part of Frolic)
Tuesday 26/8 - Dijon-Prenois track day
Wednesday 27/8 - Travel to Orange
Thursday 28/8 - Ledenon track day
Friday 29/8 - Pôle Mécanique Alès Cévennes track day
Saturday 30/8 - Home

Plan is to try and make the trip less agro for us from organisation point of view – we'd need extra staff as well as to take our van on the trip. We also need to sort circuit based snacks for lunch, provide nicer polo and option for extras. We don't want to spend months on a trip scrimping and saving to end up losing a couple of grand and a few weeks of our lives.

Driver experience - expierneced drivers only. Bookings are only open to those who have previously attended a Frolic or have participated in at least 5 open pit lane track days including at least 1 with Lotus-on-Track.

Cars accepted - All Lotus, Caterham, VX220/Speedster. Exceptions only for previous Frolicers, if in doubt email Paul.

Some places will be available at all 3 circuits for LoT members not participating in the full Frolic.

Hotels: Dijon - usual Ibis in town; Orange - our regular great Ibis with Pool in the great town of Orange.

Hotel in North will be included for those booking in August, after that will be a supplement.

A 2nd driver/passenger sharing room will be included for those booking in August but we withhold the right to charge a supplement thereafter.
No one hired a helmet this year but if you would like to hire a crash helmet for the trip please book below. Hire is £50 and includes all 3 track days, and we will transport the helmet between circuits. After September this will not be an option.
Instruction - this is currently under review, but it is unlikely we will take an instructor next year.
Trailers – Caterhams, no issue. If it's a Lotus then we really believe it should be driven between venues, otherwise you should go testing or race. If you are in doubt or want to check please shout.
Financially the Frolic is a good £500 cheaper than the next cheapest commercial trip anything like this, and quite a lot more than most other trips. It is worth doing but Paul has no real interest in it anymore but is the only one prepared to take the risk. Claude has to do all the advance work and is already working now – working to specific dates to prevent a track day or race clash.

How long has it been up?

It's written as if posted in early Aug. But if so, surely there are no places by now?!

Don't think that is for me this year although awesome tracks with Dijon and Ledenon

Would much prefer to do the SpaZZ trip as loved Zandvoort and have not been to Spa before and much less travelling to the tracks from the boat in Amsterdam
