Had a great day - who had the 60 plate elise with the gopro on the roof (roll hoop section)

Just wondered if it was on and anyone captured me in the E92 M3... Sideways :-)

or the red Z4M Also sideways!

That was wianw, i am the other iain, came up apologise for spinning in front of you at the end, blue 53 elise with gopro on the roof... i have about an hour of gopro footage also. Caught easty (and i assume you), in the Z4M ,at one point but then found the limit of my ability shortly after. Car is newish to me so enjoyed, although so much to learn on its behaviour.

I finally killed the RE50 tyres so off to get some new shoes. exploring lines and braking points, loads ot learn in that car and need to set myself a lap target. in current form i dont think a 60s lap is going to be achievable, what is a realistic best lap in a K series elise? I wasnt timing myself but my passenger did take a laptimer for a few laps and was conistently around 65s, never timed without passenger but it felt notably faster. Happy enough i suppose but need to get brave on the faster corners, spun out once coming too hot through the chicane, i had caught the back end a few times there but it finally went near the end of the session.

Next year things for the car;
new tyres - loved the 595RSRs on the M3, but hear good things about Avons. Are they track focused or fast road?
considering suspension refresh
resolve occassional stutter from engine, only on 20-30% WOT.

also discovered how appualing the headlights are, cairnomount at night was at 50mph as you just couldnt see far enough. whats the prognosis? I rarely drive it at night as its not a daily and summer time has enough daylight more often than not.

Try Avons ZZR for the track - epic, and get better with use!

I had the AD08's for Oulton and Cadwell and they were excellent. I think they were even better than R888's as they didn't go off at all even with a very long session or 2. Not tried the Avon's so can't compare but have used 888's and A048's in the past. The AD08's were every bit as good I reckon.

The HID headlights for the dipped beam are reasonable money so I will likely get them at some point. They were much brighter on Mike's (with HID's) car although not pointing in the right place.

You can make the headlights brighter on the Elise platform, which will help to an extent, but the real issue is how low they are (better on S2 than S1, admittedly) when making cross-country progress. Not a tremendous amount you can do about that.

I was there in the red Vx220. Had a cracking day, just wondering who the other elise guys were?

Think you came up to me at the end Ian? Best way to get the lap times down is just get as much seat time as possible to learn the car.
Ive lost it a few times exiting the chicane too, the engine in the back really doesn't help much on that corner as it's quite high speed and the car goes light on exit because of the jump. Just let's you know your trying! :P

Yep that was me coming to saw hello at the end. the other Ian was away/couldnt find him in the busy pit.

Headlights, pfff, i have learned the force! i did wonder about height of the lights coming into play. HIDs i have retrofitted to other cars but the light spread was terrible for the MOT test. Will go search and see if its worth it for all the time i use it.

Improving times, yep i know, more track time. What helps me is a fast laps with someone else in an identical car so i get a benchmark to try and achieve. I did a few exchange laps with my pals M3'ed compact he felt way more lively and much faster but our best lap times were comparable which surprised me as it never felt fast in the elise.

Any of the K series guys, what sort of lap times are achievable, purely as a target. whens the next one!!!

My old NA (150bhp) VX220 was doing 1.02 laps running AD08's with Exige dampers and DS2500 pads. What can you do in the Elise?

Looking forward to getting the SC VX to KH
