CCI Insurance - still valid for this Saturday

Post by JohnStewart » Thu Oct 05, 2006 2:20 pm

Right everyone,

I've been having some discussions with Richard Egger at Egger Lawson (Competition Car Insurance) about SIDC events at Knockhill.

As a result, CCI are happy to provide their usual cover for their clients at this Saturday's event, BUT NO OTHER Knockhill events like Hot Marques, Hot Hatch, Dreadnaught etc. They are however, still very nervous about this decision, until further investigations are carried out, and assurances given from Knockhill etc., so we'll be keeping a very close eye on track behaviour on Saturday, even more so than normal.

This is because SIDC have very strict driver etiquette rules, and I monitor track behaviour throughout the event and act on any dodgy driving etc.

Hopefully this is all good news to you :)

John

You must have some power of persuasion :)

Thats excellent news, I certainly didnt expect a result before Saturday.

Fantastic stuff John, well done! Also well done to CCI in listening to reason and taking a sensible attitude.

CCI just called me back to say I'm now covered (so also applies to those with trackday cover as a free extension to their road policy).

Sam at CCI mentioned that she previously had turn a few people away so if they want to get back in touch...

While there is a thread on the subject...

How much roughly do CCI charge for single day, and group days track insurance?

I've never been to an SIDC event but I'm coming up on Sat for a look................but that sort of attention to detail floats my boat.

good effort John :thumbsup . I've never had track insurance, but what would it cost to add to an ordinary (bell direct) policy??

You won't get it on a Bell policy.
CCI told me last year when I was getting road insurance quotes that they'd be about £200 for a one off track day and it'd be with a £5k excess or something!

If your old enough (28 i think) then heritage will give you unlimited free trackday cover as part of your policy. I think theres a T&C that says it only includes club trackdays, but that includes all LoT and SIDC days so could be worth looking into.

I used to take out limited insurance with CCI - think it was about £40 or so and that covered me up to £5k of damage.

My thinking was that anything over that wouldn't "happen" at knockhill.

Kenny Greenlight used to do a policy that meant you could add a trackday at £40 a pop 8)

I tried an online quote with Greenlight and it said they wouldnt insure my car :?

Would prefer one that has track day cover included.

CCI include 4 'free' UK trackdays (well, included in the premium) then discounted rate for further days, around £25 IIRC for full cover with 10% excess.
Premium for me was a bit higher than I could get elsewhere but better value with the track cover.
