ADMC Knockhill Fun Day, Sunday 29th October 2006

Post by alicrozier » Tue Oct 10, 2006 7:59 am

Basically a trackday at KH, 6hrs for £75.

Usually a big mix of 'competition cars' (and drivers) so anything from std metros through sprint and hillclimb cars and rally cars. I'd say not ideal for the novice (although I'm sure there will be novice drivers there).

Sunday 29th October 2006 9am - 3pm

Cost: ADMC Members £70.00
Non ADMC Members £75.00
Passenger £25.00

ADMC Day Membership £5.00

Open to members of registered MSA Clubs

Very tempted, last weekend of my leave. Probly last possible chance for reasonable weather, but if today is anything to go by, it will bucket down.

Good price for the number of hours..

I take it the "day membership" will get around the open to members of clubs issue?
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

Popped up to KH this afternoon to check out the ADMC day. Variety of cars taking part from CTR's/Lancers/Cossies/XR2 racers and a few rally cars.

Most amusing were a couple of Rage buggies which looked and sounded fantastic. They seem to have about 10 gears really quick on straights.

Driving standards weren't up to SIDC spec, overtaking into corners, overtaking left, right and centre. There were a pack of about 12 XR2's/Nova's running really close together, a few hary moments were had by all culminating in a Fiesta spinning into the tyres on the right just before Duffus. Not for the faint hearted!

There were a few red flags for various off's and again just before we left a red flag and the ambulance was out on track. Don't know any more details as left soon after.

Think that's being a bit harsh Simon.

Kh have always tailored their marshalling towards the client - which is why the dreadnoughy days are much closer to race days than say the SIDC. It's up to the individual to assess what the likely driving standards will be an make a choice.

With this being open to member of MSA registered clubs I would expect the driving to be fairly close.

I totally disagree with that Mac. A track day should be exactly that and everyone should be able to go to any day at any track safe in the knowledge that the driving standards are roughly the same. If you want a race day, go and race or take part in the racing test days.

If they continue to call these types of events "Track Days", people like us will not be able to get insurance at Knockhill and people who are not regulars or can't pop along for a look beforehand will just not bother as it's too much of a risk.

I've been behind them a few times. They move down the straight but miss daisy the corners and haven't always been the quickest to move over either. Make a great noise though
