Raceland

Post by rawsco » Mon Jul 18, 2016 12:21 pm

Not technically a track day but it involves a track...

Straw poll for potential numbers for a Karting event at Raceland (Outdoor Circuit) some weekend or other in Aug before the weather gets any worse than it already is.

Stick your name down if you are reasonably confident you could commit. Price would be something like 45-60 quid a skull dependent on the event choice.

Current appropriate availability from Raceland is:
Sat 13th Aug 9am
Sat 20th Aug 3.30pm
Sun 21st Aug 3.30pm

I'll need to check if I've got the kids and the wife's work rota but yeah I could well be up for a 3.30 session if I'm available ;)

I'd probably be up for either the 30th or 31st.

I'd like to try this place out and again kids and wife dependent would go to this. Probably mid week during the day is easiest for me as I can get away from work easier but would try and make it whenever we could arrange it.

Would love to take part in this, but unlikely just now as I have limited free time over the next month or so. If you have another date further in the future I would most likely take part. :thumbsup

I can do any of those days so that's 4 so far. It looks on the website like we need 10 or you can join an open gp.

Ok interest is picking up a bit... I didn't follow up on this as not enough interest initially. I suspect the availability of dates will push us into September now. Yes 10 is the minimum however I'll enquire about open endurance events see if we can tag onto another event.

I'd be happy to form part of a Scottish Elise's endurance team if this is how it works. The track looks really good from what I can see. It's a totally different experience driving karts outdoors.

If it slips into September, I'd be up for it. I've also got a bunch of friends who are keen on karting (we've fully booked Raceland before) so if there are spaces might be able to rustle up some other takers if needed.

Went today to get some practice in and lay the gauntlet down. I managed a 103.828 on lap 9 on a cool but dry track on my first time round. Annoyingly went slower in second session! My kart was a little undersreery for my liking but it's good fun
And a really nice setup with a decent American style diner overlooking the indoor track. That a720 is a bit of a pain coming from Glasgow though.

Bugger, I forgot about this.... Emailing them now....

Also it's a while since I've been in a kart but is understeer not normally from leaning into the corner and keeping the inside rear wheel on the ground? I'm sure someone whom was handy in a kart told me this.....

I will try it next time I go. They had some new karts that they were testing which looked quite good. They are planning an arrive and drive series next year.
