Re: SIDC - Saturday 30th September 2017 - Knockhill
Thanks John for today and everyone else for making it a great social event too.
The run home was not too bad either.

Glad you all enjoyed the day I was at Clark’s when it was raining and there was only a few drops, I didn’t realise it was fully wet at the hairpin!
I’ll upload some photos later today.

I'd heard Ali had skills, but no hands!
Spectacular pictures, I'm chuffed to see I lifted a wheel in one....without shearing it off first!

Another excellent SIDC day.
John you are a star.
Special mention to Ali for showing me how it should be done in a smooth and efficient manner with no drama but great speed and to James for letting me drive his Elise 250 Cup. Brave man, excellent car....

Thanks for organising everything John and great pictures as always. Had a real issue with the brakes so was super timid. Will need to see how I disable the horrendous ABS

Good to see a few of you, Ben still a wee bit young to come up and watch sadly.

Re: SIDC - Saturday 30th September 2017 - Knockhill
I had a couple of braking issues too.
1. Usual rear circuit lockout problem on the bumps braking for Duffus.
The brake balance is very good in the wet but can be a little bit too rear biased in the dry (mix of RC6 on the front RC8 rear intended to move the bias back but works a little too well!).
When this happens the rear brake circuit is disabled, pedal goes hard and usually triggers the ABS on the front...and you sail on through the corner.
2. ABS light came on during the last 2 sessions.
Hence no ABS and the 211 is quite hard to modulate on the brakes (or even tell a wheel is locked). It reset OK between sessions and was OK on the way home.
Issue 1 resulted in a 'bail out and drive around the outside of the corner' at Duffus. Issue 2 illicited a similar result at McIntyres on the last session (but leaving some tyre smoke and 11's pointing at the gravel). The issues can feel somewhat similar but #2 requires you to back off the brakes with a bit more urgency...
Btw not timing of course but I've been geeking out over the data logs.
There didn't seem to be a full clear lap and I only logged for early 15 lap session without pax.
Best complete lap: 57.57
Virtual best from the 5 splits: 54.72
Vmax: 112.47 on Railway straight (111.16 on Pit straight)
Best min speed at Duffus: 74.44mph (0.88g right, 0.9g left)
Peak g: 1.24 @ Hairpin, 1.12 @ Clarks
Over 1g in all the braking zones apart from Clarks...not sure why, maybe it's the limited time and downchange.

Good virtual lap time - very impressive for only 112mph max on the straights!alicrozier wrote:I had a couple of braking issues too.

It's only "live" timing that Knockhill aren't don't allow (e.g. mate with a stopwatch and a pit board). Reviewing in car footage and data logging after the event is fine.
I think AndyG was doing 57s laps when he did SLS last year, but he may have been down on power a bit with a poorly engine.
