Henderson Taylor Trackday Cover

Post by Kayfur » Thu Apr 27, 2017 10:31 am

I was unclear as to the current situation with track day cover with Henderson Taylor so I called Matt Taylor to get some clarification.
We had a brief chat and it seems we are covered for the first five track days but may purchase an additional block of three or five days at additional cost.

Matt summarised the situation in the following email - Hope this helps clarify.

Kevin

Trackday situation for Henderson Taylor

Over the past few months we have had many separate trackday claims resulting in our underwiter making a large loss

I had a meeting with them a month ago about the situation and they advised me that all the claims on track were from clients doing
way over five days so they have withdrawn any additional days after the five which is in line with all other underwriters offering inclusive
trackday cover however I managed to get them to agree for the few clients wanting any additional days after the five they will accept on the below terms

3 additional days £200 + IPT
5 additional days £300 + IPT

I understand if people are frustrated with this but it was either this or have all our trackday cover removed

Regards

I think that's fair. Been almost too good to be true to date. Not that I've ever come close to using even 5 days in a year!

Thanks for the update - not sure why Matt just hasn't sent an update to all customers though.

I would have thought it would be easier to send 1 x mass email than have 10+ different conversations.

Anyway, this is a bit of a result but I don't know if I will fork out even more for track insurance just to do the frolic. Then again, whats a couple of hundred in a 3-4k trip...

Still a reasonably good deal, except for the fact they only insure for 4500 miles a year so I'm still searching for an alternative.

I think H-T are very specialist indeed - and I also infer they're very small - so have a limited range of underwriters. Hence mileage limits etc may well be very tight.

Keep shopping, Saj!

Just seen this which might be of interest to those who are with HT. Track day organiser needs to be ATDO member to be covered.
