The July date is out for me. Could do the others but early /late...
Long way to go for a solitary day right enough - hoping something else coincides with it :cheers

I remember a hilarious trip where some young person was there in an Elise and wanted to record himself doing a commentary lap. The primary challenges with this were twofold. He didn't know the track. It was his mum's car. It was on P-zeros. Oh, and it was raining. So that's four challenges. And then he got a pax ride with one of the other Elises (knew the track, with proper tyres). I think Kelvin was the unlucky victim that got to ride as pax for this legendary lap. I think he made it as far as Hatzenbach before spading it :-)

Thinking of booking Spa in March again and staying in nurburg in the hope of the tourist days starting around that time (same as last year) if anyone else fancies it?
Even if touristfarten hasn’t started it’s worth it for the hot stone steak :lol:

Afraid March out for me, I’m still thinking of doing Spa on 1st and 2nd April as per last year.

Yeah Javelin, we had two good days last year. No probs with driving standards. Only £450 for the two days just now.

So Paul has 16/3 at Spa and Javelin have 1/4 and 2/4. Cologne-Bonn (CGN) airport is 1.5 hours from Spa. Thinking of doing all three days, leaving car at the airport and flying back to EDI in between. It's about 70euro each way CGN <> EDI.

Parking is 29eu/week if reserved online in car park P3 at CGN. So no more than 250eu all in; cheaper than the crossing+fuel (ignoring the time spent travelling).

Spa Saturday 16/3 is currently £235 with LoT

Spa Monday 1/4 and Tuesday 2/4 are currently £229/day with Javelin

Note that Eurowings fly CGN <> EDI but not on Saturdays so you would need to stay at Spa or perhaps a cheap hotel near CGN.

EW362 Sunday 17/3/19 08:15 CGN -> 09:05 EDI 60eu
EW363 Sunday 31/3/19 08:45 EDI -> 11:35 CGN 70eu

(Plus tyres, pads, disks, toe links and clam shells)

Obviously you also need to organise crossings there/back. Not sure yet what route I would prefer - the ferry is so slow.

P.S. Don't forget that 1/4 might not happen due to Brexit on 29/3 ...

P.P.S. John has KH on Saturday 30/3/19 which will be a bit of a Tut memorial event - he would have loved the madness of doing KH on Saturday and Spa on Monday/Tuesday ...

An alternate plan that doesn't require leaving the car is to do KH + the Spa double header only.

KH 30/3, head off to Newcastle, Geordie express to Ijmuiden, arrive Sunday 31/3, morning. If you avoid getting too drunk on the boat, you then drive to Spa and get there on Sunday afternoon for a power nap and a pleasant dinner (i.e. not at the stupid La Source hotel).

Spa 1/4 and 2/4

Checkout morning of 3/4 and cruise back up to Ijmuiden and homeward.

Means 4 days off work, 2 nights on the boat, 3 nights somewhere at Spa (not La Source!).

Cheers,
Robin
