Enjoyable day on track for a newbie and a catch up
and chat with a few.
And the tribute and day to Tut, nice one.
Did 4 sessions, one with Mikey the instructor which helped me focus on the slower in, feed power in and wider in exit
Nice start, 170,000 milestone on route to Knockhill
Not bad company, as well as all those pesky Lotus (Loti ?)
Not such a good ending
Parked up round back company to a few lotus !!
Left it at Knockhill, didn’t take much of a look as engine bay was covered in oil and I didn’t want to be.
Also not that much mechanically minded i’m unlikely to be fixing it. Hoping to get a direct recovery to Porsche indie on Monday once I speak to him.
And apologies to C8RKH who spun on my oil slick at Clark’s.
Got a bemoretut sticker on the car now thanks to Ferg. Hopefully a few more in circulation that will be spotted in the coming years in memory.
Appropriate and fitting end as i gathered up my stuff in the car, I could see N3 TUT on the low loader leaving Knockhill #bemoretut

@IanD no need to apologise mate, it was nice seeing the clubsport on track where she belongs and great to meet/talk to you. Main thing is you were OK and hope the bill is bearable.

Glad you all enjoyed the despite the variable weather. Robin’s talk about Tut was spot on - can’t thank you enough for that
Sorry to hear about some cars having problems, but Tut wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Hope to see you all next time in May when it will hopefully be a bit warmer.
I’ve put some photos from the day on my FB page:

Had completely forgotten it was your first ever track day Ian. Hard to believe!
Hope you got the bug!
I confess to being a little bored with Knockhill, but it’s a brilliant development track for lots of reasons.
That’s it for track excursions for me for now.
I am now saving away the pennies for the Oulton-Donnie Double in October

What a great way to start the track session!
Thanks to John for organising and for the great photos as always.
Will post a few in car laps later tonight once it’s uploaded.

Thanks to John for organising another well run event. Minor hiccup with driving licence was thankfully resolved, expiry date was showing as 202 with last number hidden under the sellotapedfold. Time to get a replacement plastic one methinks...
Also thanks to Ferg for the #bemoretut stickers.
Kicked off with Robin’s talk about Tut which was spot on and with N3 TUT’s driveshaft problems it felt like Tut was there.
New car was running well but no match for the 340r on the twisty bits. Bit of work required on the setup.
Finished off the day with a run over Glenshee with Stewart. Got stuck behind some dawdling traffic in a twisty bit and once clear of that he was nowhere to be seen. Evora is surprisingly quick ...
Knackered by the time I got home. Obviously out of practice and in need of some #bemoretut events.

Brilliant event, i’ve definitely missed driving on track
Good to see and meet up with familiar faces, all a bit more grey & bearded, and that’s just me
Thanks to Kinger for resetting the engine MIL light on my car.
Showing a fault code for low voltage on the O2 sensor
Never missed a beat before or thereafter but will get it checked out.
Loved the V6 on track, first drive since I picked up last September, lots to learn for sure.
Dry weather towards the end of the session, i’ll definitely need to work on my fitness for the next one, or not grip the wheel so tight!!
Looking forward to the Leven night next

Great to be back in the car on track again, superbly organised as always & fun pit lane banter in between. Mixed weather eventually drying off to glorious sunshine was perfect to enjoy a varying track.
It seems for many #bemoretut mechanicals played havoc & there are some cars bearing the scars. Mine included, apologies for causing the red flag near the end as my car decided to ignite itself & sending me scrambling for the pit wall. It’s those moments when things like quick release harness buttons, no junk in car under emergency braking & marshals being swift to put out a fire that you realise / appreciate the need for of them. Knockhill crew were also extremely brilliant/ supportive in moving me and providing advice. So thank you... I’ll be back, what car I don’t know. Some head scratching to do. But my enthusiasm is strong.
The upside I got a great passenger ride home in Brian’s 111s Honda over the Scottish Highland roads. Huge thanks for the entertaining taxi home.

Gutted for you after all the problems you’ve had with the car
You were amazingly, philosophical, think i’d be mildly furious
Hope the repairs go smoothly and to see you back on track soon

Yes, the best place for your car to catch fire is on track ... literally nowhere else is there someone standing there in the freezing cold and rain with a fire extinguisher, just for you. You realise that you have to make a donation to the marshall's fund in events such as this, don't you

I don't actually know! Ring the office and ask if there is a specific fund or charity that supports the marshalls. Pretty sure there is a UK wide charity but there may be a specific Scottish one?
