For reference the longest drives last year:
Calais to Dijon, 570km / 5 hours
Dijon to Orange, 400km / 4 hours
La Clusaz to Reims, 600km / 5.5 hours
Orange to Calais, 960km / 10 hours (plus punctures....)
I did the 830 mile (1,336km) slog back home from Reims last year.

This year I'm heading out early on 6th August and joining the Frolic at Dijon.

Boosting home on Sat 19th August:
Pau to Calais, 670 miles (1,080km) / 10 hours
****crossing****
Folkstone to Home, 630 miles (1,015km) / 11 hours

Not sure where (if???) to split that.
French side would minimise impact of any pre Tunnel delays...

gents - I'm look at the Thursday being a great potential for the wine tasting/purchasing part of frolic! (yes its my turn at wine club a week later and I set the bar a bit too high after last years epic!)

We can go via St Emilion (near Bordeau) on the way from our Mas De Clos stop heading down to Pau.

Its not quite near enough unfortunately to go straight to the hotel and then head back out as its pretty much half way between the stops.

Anyone else fancy it?

Thinking 3-4 wineries and then on to the hotel.

Alternatively there are at least 5 to 6 near Pau itself. Not quite sure if they are any good, but might make it easier to do the tasting part for those without a co-pilot for the trip!

Pretty sure I'll bail on any mid-way wine stop in the 3-Eleven.
I'd forego the quality for a chauffeured Pau shenanigans but only if Mrs Golding is there again! lol

Eurotunnel booked for the outbound journey 1036 departure on 11 August 2023. Will probably stay night before at same Holiday Inn in Ashford as last year https://www.google.com/travel/search?q= ... HQAAAAAQCg if anyone wants to join for a panaché

Still to plan Pyrenees trip after Frolic ends in Pau. Any suggestions, tips or experience of traversing the Cols in this region?

Found this link which seems to covers the main one’s https://www.routeyou.com/en-es/route/vi ... ands-cols 901km east to west, so probably head east and break into even sections on way back to Bilbao

Back on the ferry from Bilbao to Portsmouth on 22 August 2023, 30 hour crossing!

Can we go yet, if it’s even warmer than here now I’ll need to pack my sombrero 😊

Sounds like a good plan Clarkie!

We (Baz & I) are flying out to Paris CDG on the 11th, picking up a rental sh*t, and then we are flying back at 630am from Toulouse on the following Saturday! DN trip to the Ring has buggered all chances of any after trip.

Looking forward to it though - it's going to be epic. Might do some stages of it on the road in the Atom, but depends on tyre wear and temps!

First dibs on any spare TfL capacity for the 3-11 if it's either wazzing down or 40 deg (or both!).

So Baz has decided to drive over to frolic, and I'm flying out!

We will be heading to Le Mans on the 11th , suspect we'll arrive around 6pm, once my chauffeur has collected me!

I'm flying back out of Toulouse on the Saturday morning at 645am - it will be weird to be home from frolic on the Saturday morning at 10am!

Cant wait now gents!

Can we go yet!

Myself & Clark are staying a few extra days to explore before getting ferry home from Bilbao on Tues lunchtime.

Based upon last years experience the plan is 250~300km per day, we decided it's too far (and I suspect too boring & busy) to get to the Med.

Will leave the route & hotels here for future reference, comments & suggestions welcome! :cheers

Hotel Blu Aran, Viehla

Sun: Viehla to Ainsa

Hotel Dos Rios, Ainsa

Mon: Ainsa to Pamploma

Hello,

Have a nice trip ? Did you travel across Pyrenées ?
I'am interrested on a return on the Spanish part because i'am planning a road trip of 2 weeks across Spain in mid september.
