Tracktion trackdays

Post by macca16 » Sun Jun 04, 2023 9:50 am

Hello, wondering if anyone has had experience with Tracktion trackdays at Knockhill. They look busy, but have a free evening coming up. I’m keen to book a few more days this year.

I see at least one familiar Elise in this vid: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Hd74Lc1VowA

Thanks!

Seems a good mix of hardware judging by the video.

@flyingscot68 (no idea if we can tag people, I've forgottenn how BBs work) Kenny, is that your old Zenos?

Hi Ferg,

Yeah pretty sure that’s Colin in my old car.
He’s done a lot of work on it, something like 350bhp now with lots of other upgrades too. Goes well Image

Tracktion trackdays

So I didn’t book a traction day, but have ended up on a ‘hot hatch’ day tomorrow (20th August) at knockhill. Hoping it won’t be too raucous compared to SIDC organised events I’ve been at thus far, but also hoping for some damp running tbh :D

Good luck with that. Days gone by, Hot Hatch days were more like banger racing

Couldn’t be more different from the professionalism of an SIDC day. But it’ll still be a blast I’m sure!

Been a while since I’ve been to hot hatch, how was it?

Tracktion trackdays

Post by macca16 » Sun Aug 20, 2023 8:33 pm

It was good, and dry, some fairly closely matched machinery for me today, RX8s we’re out in force, a fistful of minis and a stubbornly pace matching Clio 172. Didn’t want to jinx it half way through the day by posting too soon, but it remained well behaved, no red flags in my group and just the one black flag between friends for undertaking :)

A range of machinery from certified bangers to McLarens and a Noble M12.

Not a fan of the format though, 5 groups, 12 mins per hour from 9 - 5. I’d have rather doubled that and had the morning or afternoon, but beggars can’t be choosers.

The format sounds absolutely useless. One red flag and you are sitting around doing nothing also.

Was there a reason behind it? Daftest thing Ive heard at KH in all the years Ive been going there.

No reason given. When I booked it stated there would be two groups, road cars and track cars, alternating hour about.

I guess they got greedy and keep taking bookings.

By the end of the day only a fraction from each group had stuck around, so the track was pretty empty and under utilised.

HH days were always sessions. Not open pitlane.

yeah but 12 mins per hour? Thats madness.

The shortest Ive ever heard of was 20 mins per hour.
