Well, the 3rd anniversary of my Elise ownership has passed. Time for something a bit different.
The car is probably very well known to most, but for those uninitiated, here's the spec:-
1999 (T-reg) S1 Elise, Black with Red Leather and red soft top.
Currently sitting at 48,700 miles on the clock.
The oily bits
The car recently had a complete bottom end overhaul by JPS at a cost that makes me wince to think about (and well and truly into four figures) The refresh comprised new con rod & piston assembly, new big end bearings, new big end bearing shells, refreshed crank and a new set of seals and gaskets. The engine is now running stronger than it ever has and should be good for whatever is thrown at it in the future.
The head is a kiwirog ported and polished example with standard exhaust valves but larger inlet valves. It has Kent 1811 cams and was putting out 150bhp before the refresh. I'd venture that its now putting out even more than that.
Close-ratio gearbox fitted in September 2007
AP racing clutch fitted September 2007
Uprated Eliseparts fan fitted September 2007
Uprated Eliseparts radiator fitted September 2007
S2 Bilstein suspension fitted in April 2007
S2 exhaust manifold and flexi (larger bore than the standard S1 4-stud job)
Janspeed Exige single oval exit exhaust
Mutts Nuts Grooved and drilled discs on the front with Pagid RS 4-2s (new at the turn of the year); standard discs and greenstuff pads on the rear
Yokohama Advan Neovas all round with 5mm tread left on all four boots.
Interior
After witnessing Scotty's mishap, I had an Eliseparts Harness Bar fitted with Scroth four-point harness on the driver's side. FIA approved until 2013 apparently. Inertia reel belts still available
Red leather shows signs of wear at the usual places but the seat bolsters are well preserved.
JVC stereo that hasn't been used very much at all over the last 3 years
Exterior
Headlight covers
Driving Lights with covers
Usual stone chips but there is some very light damage to the front nearside clam. I have been quoted £150 to have this repaired.
service history
Full Lotus Service History until 2005 when the previous owner took it to an independant. One Murrays stamp thereafter then all JPS in Newcastle since. Last Service was a B (with belts as the engine was being done) in June 2008 so a long way to go until the next 'A' service.
