2000 Elise S1 - The Shugmobile - SOLD

Post by Shug » Wed Mar 28, 2012 9:39 am

Yeah, time has come to get rid - I'm just not using her. Be warned, it's not for everyone, so please read the ad in full before PMing me.

2000 "W" plate S1 in Titanium.
101000 miles on the odo

Good bits:

Engine bay:
*VVC Engine transplanted at 67000 miles (comedy build thread: http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... ile#p14981)
*Jenvey Throttle Bodies
*Emerald M3DK ECU (Late enough serial number to upgrade to K3 spec)
*Janspeed 421 manifold (the one that has a flexi, so less chance of cracking)
*Cat replacement pipe
*Un-named Ex hillclimb special silencer that sounds lovely, but still maintains low enough Db for all UK trackdays
*Jenvey throttle linkage
*Bernard Scouse Airbox with Pipercross air filter
*Laminova oil cooler
*82deg PRT remote stat
*Close ratio gearbox rebuilt before install at 93K miles - steel caged bearings
*Torsion LSD in gearbox (gearbox build thread: http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... it=gearbox )
*Helix Clutch
*Flywheel lightened by our own Stu160
*PLX Wideband lambda sensor plumbed into ECU and also to dash display

Chassis:
*Nitron Race dampers (single adjustable) with 375/450 springs (from memory - standard old school fast road spec)
*All balljoints and bearings good (one balljoint just replaced, bearings only ever pressed out once in each corner, so no conical flanges...)
*Eliseparts Uniball toe link kit with all solid rose joints
*All chassis mounts solid and free of any sign of corrosion
*Eliseparts alloy belled discs up front, MutsNuts grooved rears. Currently running EBC Yellows.
*Yokohama A048 all round. Fronts getting low, Rears recently replaced.

Others:
*4 point Schroth harness on drivers seat - have an old 4 point Luke that I was going to put as a track option on the pax seat, but currently just inertia reel on that
*Harness bar - originally bought from RaceSpeed (you need to be an old hand to remember them!)
*Standard seats with a special mod - rally spec seat inserts to fend off numb-arse, velcroed in so can be removed for cleaning
*Short-shift
*No radio or speakers, but I have the speaker panels with original speakers which will be included (they fit with harness bar with no modification)
*Snap-off steering wheel with Sparco wheel to original diameter (thicker rim) and genuine lotus horn push

The car has recently spent extended periods at MMC while I've not been driving it, where Craig has been kind enough to do lots of jobs needing done (and a few repairs from track excursions) so recently the engine bay has been rewired, the engine main seal has been replaced, balljoint replaced and lots and lots of little things (fuse box refurb, etc, etc) meaning that the car is mechanically A1. New windscreen just fitted. She's historically been unreliable in recent years due to my slipshod maintenance, but his has all been corrected by Craig and it's now tip top. Happy for any prospective buyer to contact Craig and get his honest appraisal - I've not slipped him a brown envelope to lie (he wouldn't anyway)!

Bad points:

*It's showing 101000 miles!
*The bodywork is at best, tatty. Slow speed nerf into the barriers at cadwell mean some good cracks in the front clam and general scrapes and damage across the car. Needs full repair unless you're happy with the shed look, as I have been. Crash structure totally untouched, purely cosmetic.
*Interior is tired. Floors have been neutralised with ACF50, but don't look lovely - I'd prefer to get some panels made up to cover them - currently have rubber mats in there (regularly lifted and cleaned to avoid original corrosion issue
*Craig has informed me that one nitron is starting to weep, so a service for these would not go amiss.
*Roof could use a refurb badly, but is still watertight.

This isn't a car for everyone. It's an awesome track car and a surprisingly good fast road car. I've been 100% transparent in my description above, so please don't go expecting a minter. There's been hundreds of man hours spent making this the best handling Elise I know of (okay, I'm biased) and a genuinely quick track car that surprises everyone that drives it. The combo of VVC and throttle bodies gives a really flat torque curve (happily pull away in 3rd - not many TB's cars will do that) with an approx 175bhp (never had it on the rollers, but that's DVA's appraisal of where it should be.

I don't need to sell this car, so please don't make me silly offers - I'll just say no. Given that, in better cosmetic condition, it's a £9.5K + car all day long, I'm looking for £7,500 PM if interested and we can get on a call.

If you think that's too much, don't PM to tell me, as I won't take a penny under. If nobody offers me that, I'll keep it, that's what it's worth to me.
