S1 Engine Wanted
Know of any well cared for engines around - drop me a message. Ideally under 30k on the clock.
Thanks

Graham, I know a man with several K series in various states of repair, at least one has been chewed by his dog but then again I wouldn't try and stop him....
Give Olly at Phoenix Motorsports a ring, there were at least 4 or 5 lying about the workshop last time I was there. They do Honda conversions and are based in Accrington .
His number is 01254 384071, don't worry if he sounds a little cranky, he is always in the middle of something when you call!
Top bloke, top service and there are always at least 5 or 6 Loti outside awaiting parts or pickup. Last time I was there there was a Lambo gailly/galleo/galli/thing in chrome Orange too, looked sweet!

Graham,
Depending on how you plan on doing the swap (what's failed on yours?) you may be better served by splashing out on a new bottom end (block/liners/crank/pistons/pumps/sump) and swapping the bits over. There's more labour in it that way, but you end up with a 0 miles engine that way.
If you wanted to you could then get your head fettled at the same time for better high end breathing.
The problem with putting in a 20-30K miles engine is that you have already started down the track of piston wear, oil seals on their way out, etc., etc. Especially if you don't know how well cared for the engine was (revved from cold would be my worry) and also if it's a track car then 30K might be the equivalent of 100K!
Obviously the other conversion places will have piles of engines too - maidstones/sincs/jude performance/autotechnix but these will all belong to customers as I understand it - they just abandon them at the conversion shop typically
Cheers,
Robin

I would cough up the excess and get a new bottom end from PTP (or elsewhere if someone else supplies them) in that case. They'll supply from stock (they did last time I heard of one being ordered anyway) and Steve can remove, rebuild and refit engine in a day or two I would think. Just make sure the damage to the old engine is "enough" to justify replacing bottom end - e.g. shrapnel in sump, oil filter, etc.GrahamW wrote:Cheers Robin for the info.
The big end has gone on mine. The car is with Steve Williams and its covered under the AA Parts & Labour cover. Not sure what to do as time is an issue with the race series coming up.
Cheers

When you run it in, don't do it by the book. Get yourself to a track as soon as possible after engine has been fitted get the oil temperature hot and then rag the arse off it on track for 100 miles. The car will be quicker than ever, though the engine will not last quite as long, who cares?
Cheers,
Robin
