Smart work cos they are and were a unique concept that does what it says on the tin. The sporty Smarts go away from the simple design and fit for purposefulness of the Smart. I think the sporty Smarts are just laughable with that gearbox!

350 will allow me to do the big miles the pending job will require and allow me to have a bit of fun. I will report on my findings and you will see a very sideways 350z at KH 8)

Jamie

Where did you advertise the Smart? Now de-stickered the AMP3 mobile so its getting ready to go

Mine is a Pure, black, 2005 Oct, with 9k, alloys and evil twin remap and a harmon kardon ipod kit. Anyone want to suggest what its worth.......(treat me gently!)

350z - nice choice if you have to have one car 8) . I drive past the Nissan garage at Straiton most weekdays and they look fab - muscular and aggressive but without the white sock image of a Scooby or EVO. Hate to feed your upgrade addiction but have a looky here :D http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarr ... arged.html

Mark I am not going to look at that :D

Hi Andy
Try here
http://smartmaniacs.co.uk/forums/index.php
and Pistonheads
I would also do autotrader if you can cope with the emails from Africa and call centers
Price wise its a Pure so base spec not sure the re-map will go down well?
Top price around £4600 but fast sell closer to £4300
Might be worth taking it to Edinburgh Smart they are so overpriced their buy price might be around 4300?

350Z update
Well I bought the car from Dream Machines down south and inspected the car looks good and drove good to!. Feels like a lot of car for the £s. On the way back up found the tyre noise a little annoying but TADTS. What they don’t all do is show near slick tyres on the front inside tyres. Looks like geo was out (has been know on 04 cars) I will be phoning DM to give them a bollocking - selling me a car with illeage and dangerous tyres is not good! Will see if they are decent enough to help out or else

Also found some corrosion on the alloys a common thing a lot of the Ray wheels were replaced under warranty - looks like it needs a trip to a dealer for a new alloy or two plus a geo!

Apart from that the car feels fast and fun to drive. The drive back up was easy and although the car aint no Lotus it feels good and seems to be rapid in the twisties :D Think the zaust could be more vocal but does make a lovely grrr at start up that only a big engine can make.

Jamie,

Welcome to 350Z club :) As you know, I bought one as a stop gap temporary car and still have it 18 months later. Only complaints are, as you say, road noise and the ride over poor surfaces. Otherwise great and a good contrast to Lotus with loads of torque - and servicing costs which seem about half that of Lotus.

Update DM are sending me a check for half the costs. Got talking to the Nissan dealer and had a look on the Zed forums and have decided to stick new boots on all-round the Toyos are supposed to be quieter but dont last that long. (used to that with the 48s!) Already had my first sideways moment very friendly!

Cheers Brian! I think sub-consciously you must have had some influence on my decision!
