The car was last used at the Doune hillclimb in September 2007 where it won its class. The car has been stored in a dry garage since that date and has not turned a wheel as its owner, Lawrence Hoy, passed away a few months later, the car is pictured with the race numbers exactly as it was last used.
The car was also driven in competition with a 1500cc hayabusa engine fitted, this was changed to the 1300cc standard engine following an engine failure (unrelated to it's car installation). An inspection of Scottish hillclimb and sprint results will reveal the cars competition history.
The car has some panel damage to the rear panel as can be seen in the linked pictures, the underlying tubular structure is not badly damaged. The battery in the car has failed but the car has been run regularly on an external battery pack over the years and starts and runs as well as it ever did. A new battery would solve this problem.
The car is not road legal and would need an IVA test to permit road use. We do not intend to put the car through an IVA and therefore it is offered for sale as a non road legal track/race car only.
We appreciate that the car cannot be road tested (legally) and thus a detailed inspection from any prospective buyer is likely, this would be welcomed for serious prospective purchasers and we have a comprehensive understanding of the car and engine installation.
Car is located in Edinburgh and must be collected from Edinburgh by the buyer following payment.
Price £15K negotiable.
