Triumph Street Triple R - £3,500

Post by Lazydonkey » Tue Jan 20, 2015 11:52 am

Impending fatherhood means I'm going to grab some impressive brownie points and give up biking for a few years to try and save my other toy!

I've had my street for 3 years now, flew it's MOT in November and has just ticked over 9k miles. I'm the second owner. I'm sure you've read the reviews of the bike, I was sceptical that it could be that good but it really is! A simply excellent bike that's happy commuting as it is blasting down B roads or sitting on the motorway.

I bought it in July 2011 from Lincoln Harley Davidson (randomly I sold my old Buell to a German dealer who I met in their car park. Long story!) with 2500 miles on the clock and it's now just clicked past 9k.

Serviced 2k miles ago in May last year by Two Wheels Triumph in Edinburgh... Where it's been going annually since I bought it.

Matt grey with over £800 of triumph accessories including carbon front mud guard, Upper and lower chain guard, black anodised brake fluid reservoir, hugger, body coloured belly pan and both screens. If you buy a bike without the screens, hugger or belly pan you'll end up buying them anyway so save your money and buy mine :D. Also the carbon front mud guard looks a million times better than the standard Matt one which looks cheap imho. Unlike car accessories the genuine triumph stuff seems to really hold it's value.

Currently running Bridgestone T30 sports touring tyres front and rear which are excellent. No comment on either during MOT so plenty of life left. I've got all paperwork from my time with the bike and the previous owner.

Bad bits
It's a 6 year old bike so it's got the odd wee scratch here and there but nothing that would worry you.....just don't go excepting a concurs example, it's been used.

It's got a small scratch on the tank where your knees go ....it's pretty much unnoticeable and I even struggled to show it in the pics.

Slightly worse is that the alternator cover is a bit scuffed and this has let a bit of corrosion in under the paint / powder cost. Worst case if it really annoys you a new alternator cover is £100 from triumph or you just get a £60 r&g cover and stick it over the top. If I was a nasty piece of work I'd have done just that and sold it but I wanted you to see it as it was. It looks much worse in the pics than in the flesh.

The seat has been worn at the corners from my Kriega luggage but would be easily fixed, again I didn't want to bodge it and then have the buyer find it later on.

In saying all that it's a simply fantastic bike with essentially the same engine and chassis as the new model but without the 9k price tag. If you check some of the bike mags they actually prefer my bike as it has a shorter first gear and no "dame Edna" lights

Bike is located in glasgow and ill entertain near offers.

Baby isn't due til may so not in massive rush... If it doesn't sell in the next few weeks I'll take ad down, enjoy it in the spring, fix all the wee niggles and then put it back up for sale for a chunk more money.

Any questions please ask.
