VX220 Supercharger - Cat C Project

Post by Rosssco » Sat Jul 16, 2016 4:22 pm

So we had a little incident involving a spin and some unfriendly boulders on a B-road, and the result is as pictured below, the end result being

The chassis itself is totally fine (there was no big impacts during the accident, although the low boulders made a mess of the front bodywork) and the cars starts and drives fine. There’s quite a few new parts fitted in the last few months, and car was well looked after mechanically by previous club owners. I’ve had both clams off and checked the rear subframe and all wishbones / mounting points, and all ok.

Pre-accident, despite the average mileage, the car drove brilliantly and was probably the best handling road VX set-up I’d driven. Everything worked, and I was just in the process of getting the ECU calibrated / set-up (literally spent £700 on the OBD-Tuners upgrade in June...) and was about to go for a suspension refurb in the near future…

I have another SC VX, so depending how much interest (or otherwise) I will keep that and sell this. I still haven’t ruled out just getting this back on the road myself, and no massive rush for either to go, so any silly offers will be ignored.

General
• Mileage – 101,000
• Lots of service receipts etc. and new parts recently fitted as part of the SC addition
• SC Conversion completed ~2,000 mile ago
• Europa Blue

Engine
• 2.2 Stage 2 SC Conversion
• LSJ Injectors
• OBD-Tuners ECU firmware upgrade running T-MAP sensor
• Standard exhaust (pre cat removed) with 2.25” Piper rear box
• Pro-Alloy Radiator
• Front pre-rad

Recent new parts / service items:
• Engine oil / filter
• Fuel filter
• Sparkplugs
• Fresh engine and charge-cooler coolant
• Replacement OEM chain kit fitted in last 3 years

Chassis
• Lotus Exige Bilstein Suspension
• EP Front lowering Brackets
• OEM toe-links (fitted new 2015)
• Replacement side engine mounts (fitted new 2014)
• Poly engine torque mounts Fr/Rr
• TD1.2 Wheels (16/17”) with Goodyear Asym 2 Tyres

Brakes
• Mintex 1155 Pads Fr/Rr
• ABS cut-off switch

Interior
• Black leather seats with typical drivers bolster wear
• Fezzasus Mk.2.8 heater

Exterior
• HID Light Upgrade (not wired up)
• Black windscreen surround
• Turbo front splitters

Not so good bits…

From my inspection and that of the insurance assessor, the following parts are required:
• Complete front clam
• OSR Wheel (TD 1.2 – looks straight, but rim has been chipped)
• OSF Wheel (TD 1.2 – looks straight, but rim has been chipped)
• Rear Undertray
• Small front Undertray
• Diffuser panel (have a slightly bent one that could be reused)
• Shear panel (supplied)

Repair to:
• OS lower sill (fibreglass)
• Rear Clam and NS rear arch (fibreglass)
• Front crash box has a couple of small splits (easily repaired with resin), no significant damage.
• Headlights (Lenses damaged, but otherwise intact – comes with new Fezzasus Lenses)

The rest of the body is best described as ‘characterful’, and I would recommend a complete respray to bring it up to standard and remove the areas of paint bubbling. Comes with good headlights, wheel arches etc. but the front fogs are gone.
