MEV Exocet turbo (370/tonne kitcar)

Post by ikarl » Sun Apr 23, 2017 8:10 am

I'm relocating with work into the city centre within the next few months...great that they want us in the Head Office, but means it will be unlikely I'll be able to keep the Exocet (I may need to go back to motorbikes!) as I won't get to use it through the week

I'll upload some photos to show the car in its current state and some from last year when luminous yellow. But in brief some info is below;

Donor - 91' MK1 MX5 1.8
Build - May2012 to May2013
Fully Road legal
MOT'd 22/04/2018

Turbo Charged 1.8 MX5 engine with 237bhp. Its approx 370BHP per tonne which is a very fun figure to be at. Roughly the same as a Ferrari 458, KTM X-Bow, Ford GT etc. So if anyone is interested, or knows anyone interested, in a turbocharged Kitcar with loads of upgrades, please get in touch...

Gaz gold coilovers
Ashcroft ATB LSD
upgraded anti-roll bars
cornerweighted suspension at Automek
16" team dynamics road alloys with Toyo PX4 tyres (spare set of a048 tyres for these wheels with 3mm)
15" xxr527 wheels with r888s

Subaru td04 turbo + rx8 yellow injectors
Megasquirt ECU (again professionally tuned for safe reliable boost) 237atw & 260ft/lb
Mocal Oil cooler
Additional gauges for water/oil temp, intercooler temp in/out
Stage 4 competition clutch and flywheel
Blow off valve (ppp-tsshhhhh)
255lph fuel pump and all fuel lines braided

Roddisons brake pads + Braided brake lines - all it needs to stop strongly and progressively (only weighs 707kg with 85kg driver, so the stock mx5 calipers are more than enough)

Tillett drivers seat and new 6 point harness
Removable steering wheel

£8,500

Its quick
Its really quick
Handles beautifully. Very manageable, with only as much over steer as you would like. With a bit of setup tuning could be a very good drift/hill climb/etc car.
Economical depending on how you drive but thats not why you have a car like this
Insurance is cheap. £260.00 all declared with M R Bloor for myself who is 35 on specialist kitcar policy. Agreed valuation of £10k.

Some will recognise the car from Knockhill last year when it was plastidipped yellow....the base colour is white so it means it car be easily changed each year if you wish (that was my intention).

Was running 57-60sec laps at KH, but in the hands of a good driver I'd expect it to be sub-55s
