Wanted - S2 Luggage Rack - Does it Exist?

Post by Ron » Tue Oct 31, 2006 12:16 pm

Hi

I'm hunting for a luggage rack for my recently purchased S2. I don't even know if it exists. My mate has one for his S1 with 4 suckers that works brilliantly. I do a lot of outdoor sports and could use the extra storage space. I'm managing ok but it get's a bit uncomfortable for the passenger. Any ideas of where/if i can get one would be much appreciated.

Cheers

It doesn't exist. S2 clams are thinner than the S1 so can't take the weight apparently.

Hi Ron, and :welcome

Is that the black S2 that was on Autotrader that you've bought? I called the guy about that . . . he said it had been upgraded from a 111S to look more like a 111R or something? Is that the same one? Looks like the same picture from Autotrader? Had a registration that looked like the word Elise.

Hi Dezzy,

Yep that was the one on autotrader about a month ago. I was all set to buy my mates S1 111S but saw that one in the middle of the night, had a look the next day and gave him a deposit then and there. The guy i bought it off was getting married and his wife to be hated it and said it had to go to pay for the wedding (can you imagine?). Anyway it's an elise S but has some interior upgrades and 111R wheels/ race disks/ abs/ central locking.

Very happy with it but recently had a MMC shocker which i'll be writing a nasty thread about. Thankfully Dan at Jude Performance sorted me out last weekend.

So no go for the luggage rack. Damn.

ABS? How did they fit that? You'd need a new front clam to fit ABS I think, as the 111R clam was bigger to fit the ABS in and I don't think it would fit under the 111S clam? :?

It is a very nice car! :thumbsup 8) I was very interested in it, but after driving a toyota engined 111R, I couldn't resist and ended up buying one from MMC instead.

I'd love a toyota 111R! It sounds like the perfect set up. I've already got my eye on it when i upgrade in a year (or 2). Very happy with mine though, especially as my last car was a 95 toyota hi-lux surf beast that handled like a marshmallow.

On the ABS thing. I'm not convinced about it either. Basically the guy i bought it off only had it 6 months (before his wife to be forced him to sell it) and was totally clueless and too trusting. He bought it off a small garage in liverpool who bent the truth a bit to make the sale. I should've asked Dan at Jude's to check it out. You're probably right. Doesn't need it anyway, the race disks are awesome.

a typical winter weekends actvity may include:

1. Ice Climbing/ Camping gear for myself and passenger

2. 1x windsurf board + 3 sails, boom and mast.

3. snowboard + skis etc

Might save up for a transit van, would have to be white though...
