Cheapest in UK at the moment as far as I can see, so cant see it hanging around for long (and thankfully that silly cheap 19,995 one is gone too!)
19995 exige needed tax and new tyres ... i was going to have a look but someone purchased it before i could visit. It had been running the same set or tyres for 2 years and probably needed discs and pads too i guess ... only 1 track day mind you. I will get one eventually ... hopefully ... fingers crossed :D

Always a story then i guess behind a cheap car, needs work, owner needs quick sale etc . If the dude had done more trackdays he would probably have spent more cash on tyres / brakes so it would mechanically be in better nick.

true ... makes me think i should really purchase from a trader:

1. i have more rights and hopefully a warrenty
2. i can trade in my car and avoid the pain of selling private

Just an observation as i have been looking for a 2004 model Exige S2 (no pain intended for existing owners):

Cheapest Approved Exige S2 (22995)
Cheapest Trader Exige S2 (21995)
Cheapest Private sale Exige S2 (19995)
Cheapest 111R private (17495)

I suspect there wont be much more in the way of deprecation this year.

I bought my approved Exige S2 in February (almost 12months ago now eek! ) for 24995, so even in the last 12 months they have not done too badly if you are saying the cheapest dealer one is 22995. I also got a great tradein deal on my old s1. So as long as the deal is right I would just go for it, the cheapest car will not always mean the best deal depepnding on all the variables like condition / rights / warranty / remaining tax, tyres, FSH etc etc

Oh, and they will keep depreciating, just it wont look as much as the amounts are less, but it wont stop. Cars lose cash, fact.

sounds like you got a great deal. i would be delighted if trade prices dropped a grand over the next 6 months but im not holding my breath. i guess traders have a little wiggle room too.

The only problem with buying in 6months time is that it will be another 6months closer to the S3 coming out, and when that happens they will drop again like they did when the S came out.

Buy, drive, enjoy, cry when selling

3 points for JJ for making us all feel cheery about used prices!
Mines a 2005 with 9500 miles, performance pack etc. Guess I would be looking for £24500.

Summer 2008 I guess it will be worth around £21K.
It will be my last Lotus but not looking to sell yet.

Good luck with the sale Ali. It's priced to sell anyway.

That's complete nonsense.
He said it needed new tyres and you've assumed he didn't keep it mechanically sound? It probably wouldn't have needed pads or disks if it's still on the original tyres.

Don't be put off buying private, especially if it's still within warranty like Ali's one is. There's no real benefit in buying from a dealer apart from a 2nd hand warranty, which often ends up being worthless anyway.

That's complete nonsense.
Read it again instead of using any opportunity to swoop in with the put-downs- what I was actually inferring was not to be put off by cars which have done trackdays.

But any opportunity for the dig, eh?

regarding the 19995 exige, i contacted Approved Dealer JCT 600 and provisionaly booked the car in for a 72 point check ... would have cost £350 (vat included) but would have given me piece of mind (and a long list of things to fix by there standards probably).

Afraid not. I read it again and it reads the way I said, that you're suggesting a car that isn't tracked and is hardly used is somehow mechanically unsound.
No dig intended, just stating the way it reads and there was no put down, I said it was nonsense, which as it reads, it is!

I have split this thread from Ali's advert as it's not relevant.
