Well done Si, great picture :thumbsup Whereabouts is that? Scenery looks fab.

We need to organise an SE AFF course next year. Dave, Andy, Jamie and Scotty all seemed interested. Any other takers?

Now I am a full on addict (52 solos and counting) I have arranged lots of opportunities to get my fix. Off to Ocana in Spain again this evening for a long weekend. Two weeks after that I am heading out to Empuriabrava in NE Spain. A nice beach resort ideal for a family holiday with Helen and baby Max..... and ,er , it also happens to be the venue for the Empuria Go Vertical event - a week jumping from a whopping 15,000 ft from the fastest jump ship in Europe http://www.beech99.com/ Can't wait :D :D

Mark,

I was saying to Simon really keen to do it now, and he is even keener! You're the Keenest though!!

I had a quick look following on from a chat with Si and Errol nr Dundee do it, and a few other places!

What suprised me was the cost of then having extra jumps after your initial training really only about £30 a jump!!!

The Go Vertical jump looks awesome!

I try not to

Seriously, major malfunctions are very rare, and of course you do have a cut away system and a reserve, and a last resort device called an AAD which would deploy your reserve automatically at 1000ft if, say, you blacked out you were still in freefall.

At Strathallan where I have been jumping in Scotland it is £17 for a jump from 10k (which is a high as they go in their wee Cessnas) + £15 per jump for kit hire, with £10 back if you pack it. So, once you buy your own kit, which I am planning on doing soon, it isn't too bad. Forget training in Scotland though, the way to go is AFF where the weather is reliable and they have good fast planes - Spain or the US.

I did it in Queenstown, NZ Mark so that's probably the Remarkables behind me. Don't think I could've had a much better view than that one :D

I definitely want to do more, it's an incredible rush, solo must be fantastic. Dave, don't think many places do the AFF course in Britain, had a quick read of some stuff the other night but we can definitely have a look at doing something :)

There are one or two places in England that do AFF, but really the whole point of AFF is that you cram a lot of jumps in quickly to get your confidence up, so I can't see it working very well unless the weather is reliable. Besides, you may as well just get a cheap flight to Spain and do it there - the course will be cheaper anyway. Feel free to PM me or call me for a chat if you want any more info 07899 814158.
