Here are some pics of the recovered interior

Fiddly wee aluminum studs were a right pest and I probably wouldn't have bothered if I had known what a nightmare they were going to be to fit.

Looking good!! 8) Cream definately works with the green.

Cant wait to get ours back now! Check out http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... &sk=t&sd=a for the pictures and updates of our conversion and restoration, its been a long haul but dont think it'll be much longer. Everything is at painters/powdercoaters/lotus for re-trimming at mo and should all come back to us at roughly the same time so its just a case of putting it all back together, getting it MOT'd and we're back on the road!! I'l be sure to take lots of pics and post them up here when we're there!

Alan spoke to Lotus about our bits and pieces that are getting re-trimmed. He said they had recieved loads of orders over winter and thats why they were backlogged!

PS - our floors were a MESS!!!!

That was fully carpeting the inside of an S1, re-trim is different and looks good. I fitted the ali door studs on N1 with no problem, they just screwed in to their fixings.

Are you doing anything to the floor, I put aluminium sheets in as I did not like that black rubbish, and you can not have too much ali or blue on an Elise?

Also the gear lever. If you cut the black plastic off, the rod is bronze and polishes up nicely.

Thanks guys,

I know it needs a clean, that's the weekend job. These fixings required rubber mounts to be fitted and the existing holes needed to be 7mm to accomodate them but were a real pain to push in as they needed to be tight or they would rotate, some of the threads were poor and I had to take the whole panel off again to rework some of the threads.

Rubber floor does not bother me, easier to clean but no do allowed in the car for a while at least!

Work was done by Lotus Via B&C, Andy there is very helpful but took about 8 weeks to get the parts back. Cost ~£130 for door panels and sill covers, didn't get the seats done however. I have an alloy gear gate to fit but the gear knob is on too tight and I can't remove it (care with wording to avoid innuendo) and I'm not sure if I still want to fit it.

Gear knob can be a bugger, I used a cloth and a stiltson, but it still scoured it.

As I was not using it again it did not matter.

Don't.

It's a Lotus, not a pretend Ferrari - have never understood why people fit these - look totally chav (apols to anyone that has one, but it's what I feel)

I'm in the opposite situation... but its screwed on to the plastic, so taking it off would leave holes...

What am I talking about, it tat, my cars a shed anyway.. time to throw it away or put it on flebay..

I don't think your supposed to remove interior trim in A8. But I think Mr GB has taken out his.
