My latest purchase (NLC)

Post by ABZ-Elise » Sun Dec 12, 2010 12:48 pm

A few weeks back I moved to Cape Town which ment I got to go car shopping (pretty much the only kind of shopping I enjoy). I had a few choices on my list which included a Mk2 Escort 1600 sport, a Mk1 Cortina and a 1963 Chevy Impala but in the end I fell in love with this....

Its a 1971 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV. Quite possibly the most unreliable car I've ever owned and the lack of air con coupled with black vinyl interior makes for some very sweaty motoring but its still ace. The plan will be to bring it back to the uk one day, if I decide to come back that is. Sorry for only posting the one pic, was the only half decent one I had.

Kev.

That's one great looking car - finger's crossed with the reliability.

70's tip for vinyl seats - tartan rug - remember wearing shorts or coming back from the beach - was never sure which was worse......

Jesus - that must be a sweat box at times, and i dont fancy breaking down near one of the townships (did that in a Lotus 7)

Sound effort though - I judge the suitability of cars in SA by the amount of wine you can fit in the back when leaving the vineyards :cheers

Nice pick from Blouberg :thumbsup There is quite a nice coffee shop on the water down from where that is taken that I would definitely recommend. Head straight along the water past the News Cafe etc as soon as it looks like you are leaving then hang a left.

Mucho jelous that you have moved out to CPT, I have spent a lot of time there on business over the years but not managed to get out there full time. Sure you will love SA, especially Cape Town.

Great car and good to see that you are staying away from the normal VW's, BMW's and Mercs that CPT seems to have nowadays.
