2011 Indy 500 (Very little LC)

Post by Stewart » Sun Jun 05, 2011 8:35 pm

In April 2010 Andy A & I were due to fly to the Indycar Grand Prix of Long Beach. A grumpy Icelandic volcano put paid to that! In May of this year we were due to fly to the US to watch the Centenary running of the Indy 500. A different grumpy volcano tried it's best to put us off yet again, but a quick call to Delta and a one way hire car to Heathrow saw us outsmart Iceland :D

Below are some snaps from out most excellent adventure. Full album can be found here CLICKY

Cool shots.

Indy is definitely one for the bucket list - shame Dario ended up on the wrong fuel, but that's the game, I guess. Nice to see another Brit getting it though.

Yeah they gambled and split his strategy with Scott Dixon's. Unfortunately they didn't put enough fuel in Scott' car at his last stop which then meant that neither of them won. If there had been a yellow Dario would of won and if there wasn't (and there wasn't) Scott should have won. I would imagine that someone has been called to question for this further balls-up. The also screwed up the fuel on Dario's qualifying run.

I was listening to Dario's car to pit radio and when they told him what fuel number he had to achieve his response was "your fukcing dreaming"

Coolest part of the week was blagging our way onto pit road during Carb Day practice and then getting a ride from Dario on his golf cart along the pit road, through Gasoline Alley into the paddock. YouTube CLICKY Happy days 8)
