Hopefully there'll be more video footage than at previous TT/MT events.
It would be cool to give a camera (mine for e.g.) to some of the front runners to leave (by a sign post/landmark of some description) facing the oncoming Elises to record us all going by.

Memories are nice but would be nice to record possibly the last TT (or at least till TT 2009 - when video cameras are fitted to cars as standard anyways so the government can spy on us)

Tell me about it, best intentions an all that, hence I thought I'd start a thread.. to pressure me to get my erse in gear an maybe motivate a few others. These runs feature the best country side and cars, t'would make a blindin vid* if we had footage from a number of view points.

..coincidentally, one of my jobs in a previous life was editing video, so I'd thought about doing some sort of commemorative DVD...

I created a VCD of TT2002 which included Video and Stills slideshows from Knockhill, the run up and the Sunday run.

On the Saturday morning I managed to get way ahead of all the pack and got a spot near Glencoe where the road has some sharp bends and laybys by the waterfalls ( Big Roadworks there during MT2006). The group gets well split up on the drive up and rarely were there more than 2 or 3 cars in a line. Got some nice shots of folk going by. One of the funniest clips was ScottyC trying to overtake some bikers on the blind bend and tooting away at them. Another funny video clip was outside Fort William in heavy traffic when a Biker came alongside one of the noisy Elises and signed to the driver to give the throttle a blib to hear the exhaust. The biker then gave him the thumbs up and sped off.

Sunday's run was great and shortly after leaving the photo shoot in Mintlaw my video camera caught a shot of my route plan/map flying out of the car in a gust of wind I caught glimpse of ScottyC in the distance and knowing he knew the route I kept up with him and Nick from Lotus. The three of us had a great run and got some good video. Pity we didn't notice the Police roadblock in a valley, but that's another story

I don't think I had a bullet camera at the time. I have a conventional bullet camera which connects to my video camera and recently got an Archos 404 with a bullet camera from AMP3 (which I have not had much chance to use yet apart from some ice skating but I am pleased with it so far). At the moment I reckon to be along to Knockhill for TT2007 track day and then up to Fort William, probably on my motorbike. This would take my bullet cameras fine. So if the weather was good then I have a good chance of getting video on the way up. However on Saturday I will need to retrun home to get Skye and then travel up by car to Tut Towers so not much chance of videoing anything on Saturday. Might well manage something on the Sunday.

Picking up my new DV cam today hopefully.

Picked up the Samsung VP-D361 and a health £189 refund on the Sony I returned.

DV in and out as that was all they had on the mini dv range without going to the HDD cameras.

For £149 I am happy as the only thing it did not have was analog in.

Off to google sucker mounts for the car, anyone got experience they would care to share ?

I used a Culman one which was quite cheap to buy at around £20 I think. In this photo I combined it with a ball and socket swivel head which I think was about £10 from Jessops. This allowed for a lot better adjustment of the camera. The whole thing was secure and I had no problems using it with the Panasonic camera in the photo.

The only problem I did have was the tripod screw on the mount was quite long and actually damaged the thread in the bottom of the camera itself. The adavantage of using a DV camera over a bullet camera is that the quality is better however it is a lot to have hanging off the side of the car plus more places didn't allow you to use camera external to the car. I still use the same suction mount with my bullet camera.
