MLR Donington Trackday

Post by BigD » Thu Mar 08, 2007 2:05 pm

Had a trackday at Donington on Monday with the MLR/SIDC/GTROC.

Totally different track from Cadwell that I did recently with you guys, lots of sweepeing 4th gear bends, couple of blind apex's, couple of blind apex's, downhill off camber bend etc. Much more run off which was nice. :D

First few laps as with any new track was about finding the lines. The car was so much more planted with the new rear ARB and geometry setup. I was very impressed with the handling as it is now pretty much where I want it. It was outhandling faster cars and because of the higher exit speeds was keeping them in sight on the straights. Not the tuner cars like Litchfield and RC developments though. :(

Morning was dry with a little rain just before lunch which made the track very very slippery, (this was because of the unburnt jet fuel that lands on the track from the local Airport). Then in the afternoon it dried out again. :D

Session 1 from the morning.

Session 2 from the afternoon.

I also took out one of the intructors which was pretty good mainly because he didn't tell me I was crap. But did help alot with the lines. He used to drive Evo 7's for Warranders so new a bit about them. 8) He did comment that my car was handling and going very well for only 360 to 380bhp. :D 8)

All in all excellent day, excellent circuit. :D 8)

I actually found Cadwell more involving/interesting but Donington is great for kerb cutting hitting the rumble strips and fast sweepers. :D
