Good to see you again, but time that you got another Elise.

I know - I'd much rather be behind the wheel than behind a camera... :(

But on the more positive side, things are getting better slowly but surely, so hopefully won't be too long before I get another... :)

the big car is a chevron - with a 6cylinder BMW engine in the back - it belongs to Malcom Wishart who's involved with Lothian Car club.

It is a thing of beauty!

Did you find they were errors in composition or more technical issues (out-of-focus, blurred from low shutter speed, etc..) ?

Cheers.
A combination of things, really...

I kept mis-timing my panning...

I'd zoom in so much, that by the time I took the shot, the car would be bigger than the frame...

It was sunny (at points), and my position at McIntyres meant that there was quite a glare off the front of the car...

I was shivering with the cold, leading to lots of blurry shots...

And I was too early on the shutter - Example below...

Suppose practice makes perfect...Or at least a bit better... :)
Quite like that shot actually :) bit of corrective lock on :D

Forgot to ask, how are you finding your new camera / lens ?

Cheers.

That's the first chance I've had to take it out the bag!!

I've never really had a go at photography beyond drunken snaps on nights out using a compact...Hoping to gets lots of use from the SLR...

The difference between the two is amazing...And after speaking to Adam at KH on Sunday, I even managed to start playing with some manual settings...

Lots and lots (and lots!) of trial / error and practice ahead, but I think the set up I have will give some fairly decent results, in time... :thumbsup

A basic book on SLR photography principles (f-stops, shutter speeds etc) will go a long way. I have a few knocking about from my early days, I think, if you want to borrow.

Certainly worth reading a few books on the technical side :) - one popular book is "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson (amazon has it for about £12. They also have the contents page and introduction to view on the site...).

Cheers.
