I think my girlfriend would leave me if I spent 30 hours washing my car.

Car looks really good - not sure where you find the motivation to do it though - I couldnt handle more than 1-2 hours, if it was the fezza. The mule, and my motivation is down to 1-2 minutes (per annum)

My car gets washed when it rains, therefore no need to spend time detailing.

I like to get mine nice and shiny from time-to-time, but 30 hrs must require some real dedication.

The nearest mine comes to a waxing is when I use Turtle Wax Bug'n'Tar remover, and it still looks almost as good as new (admittedly both ends were resprayed last year, which may help a little.)

Well I used to think I spent a lot of time on my car(s)...but a day-long session is as much as I have EVER managed and it only extends to a good Zymol (mm, coconut!) and a thorough going over of the interior to lift the bugs and dust and clean up all the exposed aluminium etc. I ususally squeeze in a couple of simple maintenance jobs too. Like re-fixing the front number plate, a popular favourite

Also given the now rather tired state of the front bodywork on my Elise, serious detailing is pointless at present. But when I get round to having it painted, that could be a different story!

Y'know, I think I'd actually quite enjoy it, but it 's damn hard work! Consultancy is much easier on the arms than detailing . . . typing is about as strenuous as it gets. Oh, and lifting the coffee cup too

Mr. VX Jon . . . at least I'm just maintaining the current paint job on the car . . . you took it to extremes when you decided to change the colour of the entire car! An expensive way to get the paintwork looking good again!

As you're doubtless aware, there's a chap called Dave on DW.com that runs machining classes from his premises in Dundee. Maybe worth a wee birthday treat at some point?

If only I had the time to get the RS6 looking that good... I think I've got at least double the surface area .. and I wouldn't trust 2 almost two tonnes on an axle stand to get the front wheels & arches done

Its easy to mock people for spending time cleaning a car, but be honest, we all secretly wish our cars looked that good

Yep, would like to try machine polishing sometime. Can't justify the cost of buying one at the moment, but maybe in the future. Yeah, I've spotted Dave's classes on machine polishing on DW and I'd love to along sometime. He really seems to know his stuff.

Well, I could hardly spend 30 odd hours detailing my own car without at least offering to detail Heather's Elise too . . .

So, since I was on call last Friday for the bank holiday while I was off work, I took Heather's car over to Dezzy's Detailing HQ and spent 9 hours on it. No swirl correction this time, but still managed to produce some fantastic results. Tried a new product for the first time: Dodo Juice Red Mist. Adds a really deep shine on top of wax (plus extra protection).
