Impressive climb rate for such a tiny aircraft 8)

I think the official answer from your CFI is almost certain to be a firm no, which is why I didn't ask the question directly. These things are very tightly controlled in the UK and bound up with a mass of regulations and bureaucracy. Pity really as in the right conditions and with a bit of forethought it would be a fun and safe thing to do - and I know for sure that unofficial lobs from balloons, microlights and even tandem paragliders do go on occasionally on the quiet :) .
