They would normally be quite happy for you to go right to the north point of the bridges and if you say south then there's no problem crossing, you are still well away from their flight paths. Don't blame you though, it's quite intimidating getting your words in between BA and all the other commercial carriers, an if they detect any kind of uncertainty in your voice they'll be quick to deny you access or ask you to leave promptly.
It's an easy run to Cumbernauld as you can cross the bridges, bear right and 'exit Polmont'. That still keeps you well away from their centre line so they will normally grant you access no problem. Then bear right and up to Stirling then over to Perth (watching for Strathallan). Nice little jaunt and you can get a nice pics of the Falkirk Wheel and Wallace Monument

Thanks for that advice Peter, I will be a bit bolder next time (soon) and at least get within touching distance of the water
I have been "exploring" this week and done a few "firsts" went over to Oban on Tuesday which was my 1st flight to the west coast and went low level to Glenforsa on Mull today and had my 1st high level journey above the clouds on the way back at 10,000ft... which was bloody freezing, but fast.

That must have been Baltic! I've never done the islands yet but would like to this summer. I've done a run to Oban before and it was excellent, went from Perth - Rannoch up to Ben Nevis around Fort Bill then down the coast at low level hugging the shoreline into Oban. One of the best flights I've ever had. I never fly high, although it's technically safer, I seem to feel better below the peaks.....
