Gave the car a quick wipe over with a damp rag...

After two and a half weeks and nearly 4000 miles being driven round France and Italy (write up to follow when I get the time), our wee car was not looking anywhere near my usual standards...

I embarked on a Washing / Claying / Polishing / Sealing and Protecting spree that ended up making Dezzy's 7 hour stint seem like a walk in park.

I washed the bodywork then clayed it and then gave it another quick wash to get rid of the residue from the claying. I then took the wheels off and washed them down along with the wheel arches while I was at it. I then polished the wheels and followed this up with three coats (count-em!)
of wheel sealant. A splash of Tyre Gel finished them off nicely.

I then went to Halfrauds and bought one of these little 12v car polishers - I polished the bodywork with an Acrylic Polish then applied some Acrylic Gloss and finished with a coat of Acrylic Protectant.

The car was looking good by this point...

...but the inside was manky as we had been driving on dirt roads in Italy with the roof off. Only one thing for it, took the seats out and blitzed the interior.

I'm not really sure how long this little lot took me - suffice to say my neighbours think I have OCD but I'm happy with the end result and I feel that the car has been properly prepared for the coming winter.

Cheers,

John

Very very nice. I love the way the colour of your car picks up the perfect body lines. Drool drool :thumbsup

Yeh - I was just wondering if I love/hate the colour (haven't made my mind up) but it certainly does show the lines really well.

My car looks that dirty after 4 miles and the novelty of regularly cleaning it is rapidly wearing off

Nice job :thumbsup

I know exactly what you mean hendeg. The paint is a three way flip (Bronze / Dark Red / Burnt Orange) called 'Chromillusion Sunset Fire' from Dupont. Its very dependant on how the light hits it, I'm not so keen on it when you can see the Orange...

but I think it looks good when its either the Red or the Bronze...

Dezzy,
I'm driving down to Yorkshire today but I'll be back up tomorrow. Ann is staying down there with her parents next week so I'm home-alone and will pop round to see your car and bore you with our holiday photos. Get the kettle on!! :D

Michael,
Sanjoy is correct. The first owner of the car was Mark Templeman. He had it at Mexi-Towers last year as we did not buy it from Murray's until the August. We had a Storm Titanium S2 111s before.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments... I've only just got the hang of linking to photo hosting sites - the novelty should wear off soon!

All the best,

John
