Replacement for the VX

Post by Stevoraith » Wed Jan 16, 2008 3:53 pm

Well, I sold the VX in October and bought this to replace it in November. I was struggling with the cost of running two cars and since I'm too gay to drive the VX all year round I decided to get rid of the Golf and the VX and get something proper wheel drive, quick, fun, but also comfortable and useable in the winter.

So here it is, E46 330d Sport in individual Estoril blue. 204bhp as standard with full leather, climate, bluetooth phone etc.

Comments on car or photography welcome;

Having said that a Touring would suit me v.nicely!

Robins Mrs has one - epic car for returning from RLC chores on a wet and miserable evening.

Have you any plans for something more sporting/exciting when the weather turns more summery?

lovely car and great photos :thumbsup

the 3.0d BMW engine is superb, it was great in my 7 series that I have just sold so I can only imagine how good it is in the 3 series :D

It's almost a mirror image of Katie's except her's doesn't have that little thing on the roof (maybe her's is older - it's an 03) - very quick and as Andy says, an epic car if you need to eat up the miles. I bought it for her birthday - next car will be a Porsche of some sort I think, once she graduates and the kids are driving themselves about in the battle bus :-)

Cheers,
Robin

I've never heard BMW and "usable in winter" used together before. They must be getting better though - I only had to push one of them at Glenshee on Saturday....

The 330d's are great cars. My mate had one when I had my M3, he said that once his thing was chipped it would give my M3 a good run if not beat it. Never got the chance to have a go with him cos his injector rail or pump blew when he had it done and I sold my car and bought the elise when he was getting it fixed.

Anyway nice car. I'd have an E46 again anyday.

Just remember...USE YOUR INDICATORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Git! The four cylinder ones are the repmobiles, this is a 6 cylinder (I guess that makes it a middle manager mobile then?)

It is a manual- the auto doesn't really make sense on the E46 as it's so much more thirsty.

Loving the CH's on yours scib4, would love a set of those (well, would prefer the CO's without the 'motorsport' writing but thats splitting hairs!).

No plans for anything else, new house has eaten that budget, but tbh as daily drivers go, this is pretty entertaining on a back road.

The German plate is a hangover from my VW days I guess- it's a German car and something a bit different so I thought 'why not?'.

The shark fin on the roof is for the bluetooth phone option. You keep your phone in your pocket and as soon as you get in the car it pairs up and displays your phone book on the stereo display. You can then make and answer calls via the steering wheel buttons and the stereo speakers. Very nifty!

Usable in winter is a relative term- compared to the VX it's extremely useable in winter!

A remap will come eventually- 260 bhp sounds very nice!
