Thanks Neil, brilliant photos, and you got the whole sequence of Clares spin which will especially please her brother.
Now I know why the Instructor called her aggressive, though probably more inexperience with correcting.

Some great photos there.
Didn't appreciate how difficult it was to get sharp images of fast moving cars until I tried it! Can I ask where you find are the best positions to stand and try and get pics? (Assuming you are on the spectators side of the barriers). I've not got a DSLR, only a high-zoom hybrid with a 12x zoom so any place too far away will be out for me.
Also, how much post processing etc is done on most of those? Are they cropped or do you manage to get the subject perfectly in the centre of the frame everytime? Do you use a burst function etc?
Sorry for all the questions, dunno why I picked on you 'cos there are lots of good pics posted on this forum!?

Hi,
I generally hang about by the gravel trap (duffus?), behind the Rizla sign it that helps. There's plenty of action normally and it's pretty good for panning also.
I used both my Canon 350D and 40D on Saturday, with a Canon 100-400mm as my main lens. I always shoot in Manual mode, handheld, in RAW, ISO around 100/200, with other settings depending on the shot. There was no cropping done on any of these shots and just some slight adjustments in DPP (the software that came with my camera), and removed the number plates in photoshop. This is the first time I have had a much higher percentage of "Keepers" than out of focus stuff (took 300 shots and around 270 I was happy with) , it's only taken me one year to learn
Cheers,
Neil.

Neil,
The Red Exige S with which you were getting a touch "artistic" so to speak.
Catch you next time.
Take care,
Frank

Cheers for the response, that really helps
Lens on my camera is a 36-432mm so I'm quite happy that I'm not disadvantaged in that department (other than on quality, although it is a Leica so it's not too shabby).
Never shot in RAW- do you need to shoot a grey card to set the white balance after when you do that?
I only realised when I got home after the last time (and first time!) I took some photos at Knockhill that I had left it on auto focus
Think I got about 20 decent ones from about 200 I had taken.
Can't wait until the next time I can get up and practice again.

Stevo, I normally don't touch the white balance, I'm still a bit of a noob with slr's, only had them coming up for one year.
Shoomer, thanks

Yes, my nick is named after the band, they are one of my favourites.
